Hi Andy, are there plans to have a version of SoundSpectrum Darkroom for Windows?

I guess new people dont get replies from the programmer, is he too good to answer a simple question?

As another 'newbie', I can assure that Andy answers back as soon as he can get around to it. Would you rather have him chatting with you or working on that Windows version that I want just as bad as you do? Just hang on a little while, and he will get back to you.

You can see it here. What does that tell you?

I still don't think he's discriminating against us newbies. In fact, he's supposed to be working on something I requested a week or so ago, and he promised to try to have to out in 3 weeks or therabouts... 2 weeks to go before we know for sure... and that's some better documentation. I don't know whether you have tried to dig down into the guts of G-Force at all, but the current documentation appears to be 'a leetle beet' out of date. It's pretty easy to see where G-Force has evolved and improved, but the documentation is still stuck back in the ditch a couple software versions old.

I REALLY want to try to start writing my own configs, but I'm just a good engineer, barely a fair programmer (you know, seat of the pants kind of stuff; it works, but... it in't pretty), and I get kinda lost trying to fit GF's real world with its documentary world. I'm close to peeing my pants waiting for the new stuff, though I'm still digging through the old...

C'mon June 22 !!!

I don't know whether you've read up on Andy at the main website, but you should. He's got a full-time job as a U.S. Navy submarine officer, and he's doing G-Force and WhiteCap in his spare time out of love of programming, his art, whatever. Please cut the guy a little slack. He WILL get to us!

You, I, everyone has to prioritize his/her available time, at least until some dumb-assed congress passes a new law declaring that, henceforth, every day will be 48 hours long, just asand then other problem will somehow crop up, like many years ago, some state legislature passed a law to the effect that, henceforth, PI would be 3.000 to simplify computations.

You might also want to check out the old BB at:

http://pub23.ezboard.com/bgforceandwhitecap

if you haven't already done so, and look over some of the old discussions. There's not a lot of meat there, but it WAS the main BB until May 1. It might give you a little background.

Take care !!! And be cool !!!

I guess you are right, I'll just wait for an answer from Andy then.

Thanks for being patient with your question. As users here have pointed out, there is indeed a lot on my daily schedule (weekend or no), especially lately.

There'd be nothing I'd like more than offer windows support for SSD as soon as possible. However, as you may know, an endeavor that involves (1) a GUI and (2) a GUI on an OS that I have only the basic dev tools for means it would take 4-6 weeks to do (remember, my bread and butter is Mac OS development). When I say "week" I mean 5 weekdays of 7-4 PM at navyland, 5-10ish on weekdays, and 9-9ish on weekends (I say this only to illustrate that the absence of a release is because I'm maxed out, not because I'm lazy).

However, thanks to G-Force Gold sales, it's becoming increasingly possible to contract out such tasks (tasks such as making GUIs and other routine projects best done by platform veterans). In fact, we're considering posting a "job opportunities" section.

Things will materialize more in the coming months as I exit the navy, start doing this full time, and really get motivated to set a new standard of music visualization (of course, here I refer to the next generation visual, "project x").

So, we here appreciate the patience windows users are giving us, but we can't make any promise on exactly when you'll see a windows version of SSD appear. One thing is clear, we'll have more refined answers in a few months.

Andy

Ahhh. Thanks... That answers my inquiry. And certainly, G-Force gold is underpriced Andy. 30.00 bucks with ssd seems more reasonable.

Hello Andy... I just bought G-Force Gold... It is really FABOO, I can't wait to record an album of it, and to use it LIVE. A few years ago, I got ahold of Musicmatch, and I fell in instant love with G-Force. I was doing experiments with G-Force about 2years ago, this was before I had heard anything about restrictions of use. I experimented with videotaping the monitor screen, and with chromakey and superimposition effects.

I have been recording for Fantasy records Berkeley ca. For some years, and I have a couple of albums under Cybotron,. But my new project is strictly a Rik Davis video album. I could really use the QT recorder right now to convince my record company to give me a production budget. The wait is slowing my production. I may just use a DVD recorder. :P
Andy you are Cyber Sinbad. I'll be the Genie.
a little Sinbad for Andy
