Success!!

Post by JayPro »

After much finaggling(sp?), I've been able to get GF amd WC's latest builds to get running. I had to use Pacifist and one other package opener/installer I obtained free via the Mac App Store, but I did it somehow. It was just a matter of bypassing the rejected .bom thing.

The only issue I've run into was that WC crashed once while I was noodling with the new GUI settings; but I'm sure it's a minor glitch...or maybe it was just me going too fast for the processor's taste.

Re this new GUI, the only things I somewhat dislike about it are twofold.

Even at the smallest resolution, the spaces between the list items are too great, and there should IMO be a transparency option for the GUI fonts.

Other observations:
1. The reintro of the Particles folder in GF is welcome. With the Meta numbers already calculated for each existing waveshape, it'll be easier for me to judge what configs in my "extras" suitcase goes where. As for the configs and maps, I'll hafta do some work organizing it to where it was so long ago before I played around with foldered config groups.

2. I see that the line width choice is also gone. Not a big loss; but it was helpful and can still be for people with visual issues. I'd suggest adding it back for that reason.

3. I like the idea of having an option to keep the toolbar closed when opening the stansalone; but I suppose that's what the new GUI is all about, with the understanding that said GUI only is to be used going forward.

4. The Themes part interests me; but when I get thru adding from my older config stockpile, I'm not sure whether these are sorted thru/edited by the program or it must be done manually by the user. Since the theme list has no folders, I'm assuming guess #1.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the current GUI, and I don't see any reason why any "on the fly" config editing/creation cannot be done via this manner.

More critique to come...maybe.

Hi Jay,

Hooray! I'm glad you were able to open your BOM files! Perhaps your crash was related to switching to OpenGL? That can cause problems with certain videocards. Thank you for the design suggestions, we'll keep them in mind. Enjoy G-Force!

TBH, I don't kknow how I did it...and if that's how you think I got past the .bom file deal, all the better.
I don't understand, tho, how OpenGL has anything to do with this. Or is it the introduction of the openCL stuff?

SMH. S for scratch........ :-k
