Aeon Standalone not reacting to built in output-Mac

Post by LoganT »

I have Aeon 3.2 Platinum and the Aeon Standalone app will react to music through the microphone but not through the built in output. It worked when I first downloaded Aeon 3.0.

Hi logan

Is the audio option you want visible in Aeon's audio input list?

Hello LoganT

You could check out juxtiphi's artwork to see if your player is one that Aeon is designed to work with.

Hello LoganT

Why isn't the Aeon Standalone or the V-Bar responding to sound?

Aeon is probably not listening to the audio source that you want. Right-click (or control-click) on the Aeon or V-Bar window to select audio input sources. If you're listening to the correct audio source but do not see any visual activity, the source may not be powerful enough. Increase the visual responsiveness and preamp scales to see if a signal is there (see the Aeon Standalone section for more on this). Finally, if you're not seeing an appropriate sound source, see the entry on enabling it, below.

How do I enable my on-board sound source for Standalone or V-Bar?

If you are using Windows XP and you do not have an on-board sound source available from within Standalone or V-Bar, then you should open your "Device Manager" from within the "Properties" section of your "My Computer" icon and then look for an updated audio driver from the manufacturer of your audio card (note that some audio cards do not provide support for this feature within XP). If you are using Windows Vista and you do not have an on-board sound source (often called "stereo mix") available from within Standalone or V-Bar, then please follow the steps below:

1. Select "Sound" from the Control Panel.
2. Select the "Recording" tab.
3. Right click on the background of the tab and choose "show disabled devices" (this should then show additional sound chanels labeled "Stereo Mix" or something similar).
4. Right click on the "Stereo Mix" or similarly named audio channel and click "Enable".
5. Now launch your SoundSpectrum visualizer in Standalone or V-Bar mode and select this audio channel.

Aeon Standalone enables you to visualize any of the inputs available on your computer and is exclusively available in Aeon Platinum. Note: the Mac OS X operating system doesn't allow third party applications to access audio from iTunes or the OS, so the list of available sound input sources is limited to what you see in the "Sound" panel in the System Preferences.

In Windows, you can run Aeon Standalone by selecting: Start | All Programs | Aeon | Aeon Standalone. In Mac OS X, simply run the Aeon Standalone application included in your Platinum download.

Aeon Standalone can select from any sound source available to your computer. Using the Aeon menu, select the desired source from the "Audio Source" list in the "Settings" submenu.

When using Aeon Standalone, please know that Aeon will be sensitive to the volume levels of any "line-in" or "mic-in" sound sources. Use the + - and [ ] keys to adjust the signal and visual gain level. See the G-Force customizing section for a description of the response vs. preamp scale (both function exactly the same in Aeon).
