Yes, but often people have workarounds. Seems that the other players on the list have much more painful-to-use folder library structures. I have 20,000 songs, many from LPs recordings, and can't just have a library of useless file names. Make this work with Foobar, and it'll be the best combo. Standalone doesn't work if I output through HDMI. Otherwise, Aeon, as nie as it is, becomes a waste of money ..
sorry you feel its a waste of money, you cannot blame SS for there not being a work around for your player.relayerbob wrote:Yes, but often people have workarounds. Hello relayerbob
We go to great lengths to provide information such as having a list of supported players for SoundSpectrum products.

<sigh>
Guess customers don't always come first. Why would you want to obtain input when you have all the answers. No refunds I suppose?
Be helpful if you guys actually read my question. I full well know that foobar wasn't directly supported, but you state that standalone version (the most expensive one) will work with almost anything, so I purchased it. In fact, the demo program worked better than the purchased version, even on Windows Media Player - more responsive, less overhead and oddball scenes.
However, standalone doesn't work worth crap when trying to output to HDMI for listening on a real surround system. This concept of running it through recording modes doesn't work right at all, occasionally it works, sometimes it echoes, sometimes it feeds back, sometimes it just sits there. And from looking at feedback all over the web, it's clear that this is an inconsistent solution.
Unfortunately, the library modes of the players you do support are much more difficult to use than foobar, and bottom line - I use a player to find and listen to music, not make a life work out of creating playlists and the like. I want to be able to listen to my recorded LPs, for instance - they don't have "tags", etc., and I sure am not going to spend the rest of my life entering data manually. I'm quite an advanced computer user, and well aware that has nothing to do with SS, BUT if you had read this: "Make this work with Foobar, and it'll be the best combo." and taken as a point for continuous improvement, maybe at least one (and probably more) customer would be a happy camper. As it is, I was really writing to users out there who might have tried this, not to site admin people who apparently have something of a grudge against foobar.
In any case, whatever, enjoy my $30, I should've used it for for another visualization or a couple of CDs.javascript:emoticon(':x')

you have no idea why SS doesnt support foobar you just assume they dont want to. as for reading your question, Of course I read it and its buyer beware when you pay for something that you clearly know doesnt support "your" best combo but you went with it anyway and now you're upset.
what makes you think you can just post a comment in a forum and get SS or any company for that matter to make changes based on "your" ideas? what did you expect "oh we'll get right on that for you"

The Stand alone works just fine especialy when you have a soundcard that is supported and has inputs for things like record players or tape decks. my soundcard has all this which means I have no trouble sampling from an external source.
you have chosen to go a different course and you want SS to make you happy.
no company can ever make each and every person happy there is no way to take seriously all the requests for changes from all who wish them.
Contact Support and ask for your money back. I'm sure they will be happy to give it back.
