Official screenshot sharing thread?

Post by joeshabadoo »

I was looking for one and my search revealed nothing, so I was wondering whether we could have one and why we don't? Is it just the problem of server capacity? If everyone posted JPEG versions of the screens then it wouldn't really be a problem. I mean, I don't see hundreds of users here and I don't think that the people here would flood the thread, we're good people. I'm not gonna post any of my screens yet because it might be not allowed or something, ( I didn't see a forum rules sticky, though), but I'd like to see a designated thread where we can all share our favorite screens. Any of you mod's think we can make this happen?

Such a thread isn't doable with the software that runs the forum. With phpBB, you can't just upload an image from your hard drive and have it be part of the post - the image has to already be on the web somewhere and can then be linked to a post using BBCode's Img tag.

Nice thought, though...

you can find lots of free pic hosting sites, e.g. www.photobucket.com

If you upload a JPEG to a photobucket you can get a decent size and then bam, images on the forum. Yes the free acount's have a monthly upload limit, but you can still put you're best up there.

See, here's one of mine hosted through photobucket:

Yeah, as long as the individual poster is willing to find hosting for their own images then a screen shot thread would work.

I those alot Ethan, especially the first one and the purple grid one. Here are some more of mine (these were from an older version of G force and they've been saved as JPEG, so the quality suffers slightly):

I like this one because I get a real feeling of motion as I work my way to the middle

Those are some kick-butt screenshots!! Thanks to all who posted them--very cool!

I'll think about making a separate screenshots forum--a great idea!

Also, for fun, I've created a little section of my web site devoted to G-Force screen shots.

See it here.

Andy, or anyone else, feel free to grab whatever pics you like from there.

The 3 latest pics on that page are amazing ethan! There must be an upgrade to gold I dont know about. Also to hijack for a sec, I just reformated and am not sure how to redownload gold, I dont remember my authorization code and dont have that email. My mistake, but i'd like to have gold again without paying again. Do you have email records of who has paid for gold andy?

Joe, just a guess on my part, but you'll probably have better luck if you email Andy directly about that.

Actually, the man to contact is Key Compton (key@soundspectrum.com), as he's in charge of handling license-based matters.

He'd have the data you need, I'll plumb wager.

There is an Attachment Mod available (Acyd Burn's is the one I use) that allows uploads. You have a lot of control such as file types and user quotas.

If you apply it to a stock phpBB install the altered files are even provided making it a snap to install.

I run 4 forums that have the mod, it's a good thing.

Man it never fails to amaze me. especially when you look at other visualizers like R4 and Milkdrop, G-Force throws quality after quality at you.
