Prefs File -- FPS Value doesnt change

Post by kgardas »

Hi all. I am new to G-Force and I am trying to produce some videos from the visualizations using Cantasia Screen Cam software.

My problem is that I edit the prefs file (Preferences(Standalone).txt) and I specify "FPS=25" but when I open the standalone version and press the "R" key I see values of 32-33. When I close the GF and check the file again FPS is back to its original value "FPS=33". Am I doing something wrong or this is the way it works?

Make sure G-Force is not running when you make changes in the prefs file. If you edit the prefs file while G-Force is running, the changes will be lost.

Yes I have read about that in the documentation. When I make the change G-Force isnt running. When I open it and close it again the value in the prefs file is changed back to 33.

Hmm, perhaps the toolbar is overwriting the pref that you set manually. As a test, disable the toolbar (so that when you start standalone, the toolbar doesn't come up). Then, when standalone isn't running, change the FPS pref to 25. Now, launch standalone again and, assuming the toolbar didn't start, the FPS pref should still be 25.

Yes that did work. Thank you gorus. But why is this happening?

This is the way G-Force currently works--perhaps you can lower the framerate to 25 in the toolbar and then you won't have to worry about editing the prefs file manually.
