iTunes 7 problems
If you are encountering full screen display problems with iTunes 7, please know that this is now a known bug that was introduced by the release of iTunes 7 (Apple claims they are working on fix). Apparently the full screen mode goes black when G-Force is taken full screen and G-Force is configured to display at a resolution other than what is considered a non-native full screen resolution.
Temporary Solution - if using Windows, please uninstall G-Force through your control panel and then re-install G-Force as this will provide you with a "clean" install (you can also delete your preferences file from C:\Documents and Settings\Key Compton\G-Force). For Mac OS X, please delete your iTunes preference file from the following directory: user\Library\Preferences\G-Force.
Once G-Force is up and running again within iTunes, please refrain from switching your G-Force full screen resolution settings (either through the G-Force Toolbar or from the keystroke menu within G-Force).
If you encounter problems or have more questions, please email support (at) soundspectrum.com

Just to note iTunes 7.0.1 is out. I don't use iTunes but this version fixes many problems people had with iTunes 7.0 and the GF/CPU issue could well be one of them. People please try this and let everyone know if it is ok.

The keyboard command for changing flow fields [S on a Mac] still does not work properly. In vrbose mode the message "Next flow field x" appears, but one cannot change the flowfield manually.
The Toolbar does not launch when G-Force launches, nor can the toolbar change the flowfields.
Also (and this applies to any vizualizer), once cannot select a different window — full screen or normal or half, etc) before the vizualizer launches. When it's already launched in full screen mode, once can use the command keys to change the window size; otherwise the menue commands are grayed out.

Upon a more patient look I discovered that the S key is indeed changing the flowfield, but not quickly the way it used to. There is a message saying what the next flow field will be and then a thirty seond or more wait before the change comes. Perhaps this is due to a setting I've made for flow field union transition (I think I have Smoother selected.)
Further update:
The toolbar will launch as long as another vizualiser is running already and then a aswitch of G-Force is made. But it won't launch if G-Force is the vizualiser that is already loaded when iTunes is launched.
It appears my slow response on flow fields was caused by my having checked the Flowfield Transitions box. With that off, the S key triggeres a quick reposne.

I upgraded intunes then reinstalled Gforce (platinum) and not only is it causing my itunes player to perform erratically when i am NOT EVEN RUNNING G-Force (music is skipping that ran perfectly smoothly just a week ago), but when i try to run the GForce visualizer through itunes it causes my computer to immediately REBOOT.
It appears this plug in is no longer compatible. I'm running windows xp.
is this going to be fixed?
thank you,
David David

everything will be fixed i'm sure, trouble is do they waste time patching g-force to work or wait for apple to get its finger out and clean the bugs up which are within Itunes.
Itunes has a lot of new display technology in version 7 but i think it was rushed to the download page to get their online movie downloads online as quick as possible before someone else moved in on the market. its definetely a little buggy yhats for sure

I'll come to bed once i've seen everything in G-Force.
Hi. I was directed to this thread when I posted about my problem with iTunes. I don't quite have the same problem as you are discussing here. I run iTunes 7.0.2.16, no previous version was ever installed. I also have G-Force 3.6 Platinum, installed over the top of the 3.6 Demo. When I try to change from a G-Force display within iTunes to a full screen, G-Force seems to stop working altogether, and returns me to the music list in iTunes. I say seems to stop working, because if I pop up my windows taskbar, I get a brief glimpse of one line of the visualisation before the bar pops up. I also have to go into the iTunes settings to disable full screen before I can start G-Force again. Additionally, if I enlarge the iTunes window, the G-Force display reverts to a letterbox view (I don't mind this - quite like the letterbox view), but also flickers horrendously. I suffered these same problems when running the demo version of G-Force as well.
I am running Windows 2000 on an Althlon XP 3200+ with 2GB of RAM. I have an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro II 128MB graphics card.

it may not be the exact same problem but the reason you were directed to this thread is because with each new version of itunes they change something that causes an error in GF. a lot of players do not keep GF in mind when releasing new builds so GF is constantly trying to keep up with what ever it can.
iTunes 7.1
Well 7.1 has been released and it's still not playing ball with GForce.
I sent feedback to Apple but you get the feeling you're just feeding into a black hole...
7's performance is pretty lousy as well I find. If I have more than one or two apps open at the same time playback gets jittery.
In the meantime I'm still chugging away on version 6.
Disappointing really. Honestly, what are Apple doing?

Re: iTunes 7.1
Yeah, I totally agree... I've been using iTunes 6 on my personal computer because starting in iTunes 7, whenever I drag one of my 1 hour+ mp3 mixes to iTunes, it analyzes it, which basically locks up iTunes for 10 seconds. I haven't noticed an "jittery" behavior with iTunes 7.1.1 on a Mac Pro running OSX 1.4.9. But since the first version of 7, iTunes has the nasty habit of launching G-Force (or any other visualizer) in full screen mode, no matter what I try to do to prevent it. Launching in full screen mode of course prevents the toolbar from launching, and after I return to windowed mode (Command-F) , I have to manually launch the toolbar. Before starting G-Force, all the window sizes are grayed out; so I can't preselect a size. Actually the window sizes (Command-1, Command-2, etc) are always grayed out; it's not clear what they are intended to do.
why not put a shortcut for the toolbar in your taskbar so that you can run it when ever you want?willrob wrote:I haven't noticed an "jittery" behavior with iTunes 7.1.1 on a Mac Pro running OSX 1.4.9.
