Running in widescreen?

Post by Aerothorn »

Heyo. I love G-Force (I recommend it to all my computer-music listening friends), but have had one little problem. A while back I got a widescreen monitor (A Dell 2005FPW). I was happy to see that G-Force supports 1680x1050 - but when I change it to that resolution, nothing happens. When I change it to ANY resolution, nothing happens. It says to exit and re-enter full screen to set the changes but the windows size never changes - it's always centered in the screen (with bars on all sides). Is there any way I can get it to be full screen without stretching it?

Check the frame width/height limit under Visualization Preferences in the toolbar. It sounds like these are set to lower size than your screen res. Just increase them to be higher than your native res.

Note, however, that you should have a pretty beefy machine to be able to run G-Force at a reasonable framerate at 1680x1050.

I actually have the free G-Force at the moment - I like it a lot but don't use it that much as I don't have a lot of music - I plan on upgrading someday, though I'm afraid it will be rather costly if you only get two upgrades for free.

No way to do it without the toolbar then?

The G-Force FAQ has instrucitons for changing these settings:

If you are using the free trial verison, you can change your G-Force preferences file as follows: (i) Open your G-Force preference file within the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\G-Force\ (ii) change the values of MaxX and MaxY to equal your display resolution. (note, for Mac OS X users, the prefs file is located in: home/Library/Preferences/G-Force)

That worked great. Fortunately I got a new computer last year (GeForce 7800 GT, 1 gig fancy RAM, AMD 64 x2 4200+), and while not top of the line or anything it seems to do fine so far running G-Force at full screen, and boy is it pretty. Thanks much:)
