playing a video as a sprite
G'Day
I have purchased G-Force and see that it will play a video
if placed in the sprites directory or the "use external directory" link is
used
When I try to play a avi or mpg I get an error message
What codec must the video be for G-force to play it?
Thank you

Gottit
when I moved the sprite directory somewhere else to test video
I created a new directory and did not put a "default.txt" file in the
new directory
Mov video files seem to be the one although mpgs will play but cause onload
hangs and crashes
I have not got an avi to play at all
Next is to get the video to play full screen
At the moment the video is playing in a small square in the middle
I will continue experimenting

The video is, lets say, 352x288JayPro wrote:Does your system allow you to reset the dimensions of the video in question?
If so, then you'll most likely need to refit to the current resolution you have when G-F is running.
I can make it any size when playing it in a media player such as zoom
or vlc but this won't affect the size when G-force is running it as a sprite
Unless you are sugesting recoding it to a different size such as 706x485?
In that case what size do you suggest?

Well since the M key is used in the standalone to switch resolution when GF is running full-screen, you should get an idea of the allowable sizes available to you. Then you can (hopefully) resize your vid/clip to match.
But when in it's windowed mode, I'm honestly not quite sure what to do.
Hope this helps.

"God is syntax."
Video auto-sizing is currently not present in G-Force athough we plan to add this in the future. I've added it to our feature enhancement db for tracking.Mycroft wrote:The video is, lets say, 352x288JayPro wrote:Does your system allow you to reset the dimensions of the video in question?

Quicktime
One thing that always helped me was using video Quicktime natively supports on the codec level, and having Quicktime installed (if using Windows). FWIW.
