can someone PLEASE! answer me?! i've been waiting for a month! hasn't anyone else had this problem?

my sprites are too bright. as in: they're NOT being drawn as background sprites. i've already covered all the basics on the issue within my text files, but it remains a problem. i had the problem once before, but i fixed it; however, i had to re-install g-force andi can't seem to fix it now!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are your files located in the (Auto Backgrounds) folder under sprites? If they are in (Auto Foregrounds) they will appear over top of the wave etc.
Just cut and paste your images in (Auto Foregrounds) into (Auto Backgrounds).

If that's not your problem then I don't know. I did ask Andy if he could add a way to display a sprite with only every other dot so it would be kinda transparent but he is too busy to reply.

no, i have 'em in the right folder...

i'm pretty sure that it has to do with the "GForce Consts.txt" file that was added with PLATINUM Beta 3.0.

i fixed it, once, about 3 months ago, but i can't remember how i did it! actually, i'm pretty sure that i've retraced the steps i took back then to fix it... ...but it didn't work THIS time...

anyways, they're just coming up on the screen and they're NOT getting "smeared" like they are supposed to.

could it be a "flag" gone wrong? i'm not 100% sure exactly HOW the "flags" work, or how to apply them, so...

any further help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

thanx!

Okay, I see. You want them to be pulled into the flowfield sooner. That is in the constants, I think. I'll look into it a get back to ya.

OR one of you smart guys could jump in at this point, hint hint.

Upon further investigation, here is what I got: a headache....

....and some results. I went into the preference file and changed SInt to 11 and SDur to 10, thinking that would keep a sprite on-screen most of the time, it didn't. Using the toolbar I selected my wave "chk_Leo15" and kept the music off. This kept G-Force from showing a wave. I tried several different flowfields during this process. I found that when a background sprite loads, G-Force cycles thru the color palette in the sprite. It does the same thing just before it removes it. And if you use one of my constantly changing colormaps you will have 'movement' or flow within the image itself. That is pretty neat but it's not what you are talking about. At no time did I observe a background sprite being pulled into a flowfield (as I said, I tried several). So I thought 'foreground sprite".

I had a heck of a time trying to get a foreground sprite to display. I tried .GIF, .JPG and .BMP files in the (Auto Foregrounds) folder. I tried to call them up from a script or two but got error messages. Finally I put some in the (Non-Auto) folder and could call them up in a script. Then I remembered that their initial position and how fast they moved were controlled by a .txt file. You can make one for each sprite or G-Force will default to (Default).txt.

In that file the "Pen" parameter is probably the one that you want to change. I quote: Pen is how "brightly" your sprite is drawn each frame.
I addition, I think "EPen" controls how much 'smearing' occurs. So contrary to what I said in a previous reply, you probably want your images to be in the (Auto Foregrounds) folder, even tho I had some problems. There is a (Default).txt for the backgrounds too but I noticed that it doesn't have an EPen parameter which supports my observation that background sprites don't get pulled into the flowfield.

So how is that for making a short story llllloooonnnngggg?

Please let me know if that helps...
