Putting them in the AutoBackground subfolder in the Sprites folder shouldn't be an issue.

What sizes are your pics? G-Force will not be able to properly show pic sprites that exceed a certain dimension. There might also be an issue on the G-Force processor's being able to handle certain file types. For instance, your jpg.'s may have been converted from a previous format(?)

It's helpful, BTW, to skim thru the Customization section of the Documentation folder, if you haven't already. This should give you a better idea on the acceptable file-types and screen dimensions for your pic sprites.

hey, thanks for response. i put them in home/gforce/sprites/autobackgrounds. im using osx with lots of mem/space, gforce platinum, original files are jpg's. i messed with size a bit, even really small.
one thing is when gforce standalone starts, it says in upper-left, : not using waveshape ".BC" because it did not have enough qualifying meta ratings. i don't know what that means or if that has anything to do with it.
i suppose i will re-re-re-read the documentation again, maybe i missed something. oh, auto sprites should be "on", right? also, i dump every file from autobackgrounds then drop in my own jpg's? not that that worked for me either. sorry for all the questions. thank you very much. -rob

1. The Meta Files strictly deal with the appearance of your WaveShapes/Particles and have absolutely nothing to do with how your sprites work.

2. Yeah...make sure your Auto-Sprites pref is on. Also, (and I apologize if I'm misunderstanding you) leave your AutoBackgrounds sub-folder untouched and drop your jpegs into it.

If you wanna manually call them up to see if it's workingnow, just do a simple shift-Y key combo.

EDIT: Putting them in AutoForegrounds really shouldn't be the primary reason why they'd work or not.

Sorry about that. For some reason I didn't notice that you wrote which folder you put them in.
