PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NOTE: The following is not meant to be taken to heart by the regulars on this board, i.e. Andy, Key, Toby, Orb, RS, or any other regular/semi-regular poster whose only intent is to make this board fun and enlightening. Feel free, however, to read this and grade me, as it were, on how I come across.

Apparently, my initial plea wasn't made sufficiently clear. So here goes once again.

N00bies...

If you...for whatever reason known only to you and the Supreme Being of your choosing...feel the need to rip Andy a new one over his choice of priorities (ito wit, his business and no one else's unless and/or until he makes it public), I *strongly* advise e-mailing him directly and not clog up the boards with things that shouldn't be out in the open.

If and when you do, BTW (and this goes for those n00bs who might get angry at times with how things work and/or progress around here), you could try asking him exactly how much he has on his hands vis a vis every other aspect of his life, i.e. whenever he's not busting his sit-bone making GF 3 ready for public consumption, *never mind* updating both WhiteCap *and* the various Mac builds for SSD.

I mean, really...

Between a 5 year T.O.D. in the US Navy and having to move long distances at least twice in as many years, it's simply nothing short of *staggeringly remarkable* how much he's been able to do for us.

Having said that, I sympathize with the more patient Windows users among you in terms of how far behind the curve you feel that you are. If you like, I can try to put in a good word to him and see if it's possible for SoundSpectrum to hire solely Windows-oriented designers and programmers. And if that's something that's already being looked into, all the better.

I regret taking quite the peeved tone here; but I grow weary to the point of death of hearing the occasional disgruntled user gratuitously crying "ripoff" over the mere lack of a feature that for all we know is very much on the drawing board.

For instance (and specifically to the point raised by the poster preceding me), can any of us say definitively that Andy is *not* actively pursuing a Windows build for SSD?? My answer would be no; and I consider it grossly unfair to say otherwise. However, you're welcome to the opposite opinion.

But can we seriously try a bit harder to lose the inane, grade-school kvetching along the lines of "I can't do so-and-so with this app. This is totally "gay" or "retarded". Andy's doing a suck-job or he's not keeping up to *my* expectations. Therefore I'm not buying Gold."??

Whatever. "Who do you think you are?" is the farthest question from my mind at this point.

"So why am I bringing all this up?", you ask. Well, to tick off the most important reasons:

A. To frivolously second-guess poeple whose general daily activities you cannot possibly lay claim to knowing about is IMPersonalO intellectually bankrupt,

B. Accusations of this kind---assuming that they *are* being made, implicitly or otherwise and without provable evidence---just cannot be logically justified no matter how you slice it,

C. The brutal truth of the matter is that people who are on the whole *orgasmically* satisfied with SoundSpectrum's products most likely don't give 2 1/2 mouse farts about groundless litanies of self-imagined personal dissatisfaction from those who usually don't take the time to read *anything at all* in the Documentation,

and

D. I, as co-moderator, have a clearly-defined obligation to put the kibosh on any further postage here that I perceive as injurious to the community in *any way*.

Pure and simple: if you're not gonna pay for Gold, fine. Don't buy it. Keep it to yourself. You'd like to e-mail Andy about it, you say? Lay on, MacDuff; but keep it between you and him.

Rant off.

Mod out.

Well said!!! I'll admit, I am one that does "complain" from time to time.

I think G-Force is an excellent product, and I applaud those who spend their time writing scripts, and the software creator(s) who made G-Force possible.

I am happy with the program. There might be added features I'd like, but it was well worth the cost, with or without the added features.

I will apologize to all of you developers and those who write scripts, if any of my posts sounded negative.

Jaypro, I give you an A+. That was one powerful post.

JP,

Chill man.

Online you will get many that are appreciative of others actions. Ranting is IMHO a waste of effort over newbies/ borderline trolls that you come across.

A simpler.

"If you purchased gold for that feature then sorry it is not available. There are no claims that it was available and you should have checked first before purchasing if that was your sole reason for purchasing gold.

It may come out in the future but there has been no release date and is looking unlikely in the foreseeable future as working on the new GF3 is well underway and beta testing of this is beginning thus the majority of resources are focused in this area which is after all the main product in the SoundSpectrum family.

Oh reduce that massive avatar btw it takes up half the page. :/"

Save your effort the poster above is not the first and will definitely will not be the last. I have been looking after (mod/admin) forums online too long to worry about such things.

Maybe a simpler sticky at the top of the forums is needed the too. It is a lot to read and simpler more bullet type points work better and newbies are more likely to read them.

Just sharing my experience I had with the likes of moding the Winamp forums. Oh a general moding forum POV some Rules like we have a Winamp http://forums.winamp.com/rules.php might be useful incorporating at some point if the forums grow larger.

Just as I thought.

Thanks for the criticism. It was starting to get to me about how one-track a few peoplee can be sometimes.

Methinks I'll need a bit of help moderating this forum...and aside from one chap I'm speaking to right now (if he wishes), I have a couple of other persons in mind.

More on that soon.

Thanks again; and once again, I apologize for my tone. Apparently I'm not as much a paragon of patience as I gave myself credit for.

Mod in happy place now...for time being.

PS: Apologies for the lack of clarity, if any. As well as the choppy semtences. I just woke up not even fifteen minutes ago only to find a response indication in my email which lead me to this. Got me a bit nervous, tho.

After readin this thread I feel as if I would like to add something.
I myself only have the trail version (not that I wont upgrade), and I am a newbie as you say not only in terms of this forum but also pc's. So I was very very pleased to find such a fascinating program for free just by looking for new visualisations. I think from an outsiders point of view the problem we have here is that because its such a fun and exhilerating program everyone wants it but as this isnt the perfect world they want it for free. Where as you guys in the backroom doing all the hard work feel as if these newbies with an atitude do not appreciate your efforts because of one thing or another. I as I stand as a new newbie I am grateful that you guys give you time and effort into something so good that everyman and his dog wants it (but for free).

and while im here whats the difference between gold and the free trial. The free trial is owesome what could be better.

Answers in plain english please lol.
cheers :D

Just to clarify things, when I mentioned "N00bie", I wasn't making reference to *every single new poster who has ever come across or ever will come across this program*.
It's just that there are one or two who might let fly with a loopy comment that might get someone in a bit of a tizzy. My opinion is that it'll always happen; so there's no use in my agonizing over it anymore.

I certainly appreciate your positive contributions and we hope to hear more from you as time goes on.

Now, as for the differences in a nutshell:

*The Gold version contains a nifty new effect type called a Union, which basically takes two completely random flow fields and meshes them together. It's important to note here that just as one flow field can look different each time it loads (and sometimes by a lot at that), it it true also that one Union effect can look different each time it comes up. All this is because the coding language allows for randomization in *so many* different ways.

*The Gold Version also allows you to see cover art for your media player song lists.

*You can get a Special Edition of our sister visualizer WhiteCap if you're interested (awesome in its simplicity).

and

*Buying it entitles you to a year of free updates, and a special, unique-to-you-and-you-alone password to all this magnigficence.

If you click the G-Force section of the frontpage, then go to the download part, you can read a quick list of the features I mentioned here, plus a few more.

Ok, I'm sorry that I said it was a rip-off, I greatly apperciate this program and those who have made it work, but the thing is that about two weeks ago, before I re-formatted my computer, I had the trial version of g-force, and it had all the options as my gold one does now, I could see cover art, and I could take snapshots, then when I came back to download it again I felt as if I had been gypped, because now I have to pay 10$ for somthing I originally got for free. So In no way am I referring to the programbeing a rip-off, just the fact of that it was free, and now its not.

But with gold I did get the 'gold' only visuals, so thats a plus. And I do hope that Darkroom will be avaliable for windows soon, because I have always fanitsiced about making a DVD visualization that I could play not only on my comp, but maybe a big screen TV with surround sound.

Thanks for all the replys, and I will return to the forums, I belive that they will grow large very soon, and I can say that I am one of the originals.

That's why it pays to save install programs (besides documents, favorites, music and pictures) to CD's or other external media. Then after you reformat, copy the files from the CD's or whatever.

I have install programs and everything else saved since 2002.

But, this program is worth paying for. I think it's a bargain. It is excellent!!!

So it's been a couple of days since my unfortunate, out-of-character rant-barf; and I'm gratified to see positive reponses here thus far...and, while I'm at it, I wish to reiterate my thanks to Rovastar for guiding me back towards the right avenue.
I'm still kinda smarting from the guilt-pangs; so I thought I'd just take a peek in here to see whether I've caused any potential regular contributors to start running for the hills.

Well...I haven't of anyone jumping out of windows since then either; so I must have not totally screwed things up, right?

I didnt want to do that because there was a virus hiding in some of the programming, and my virus scanner couldnt delete it, so I didnt want to chance it coming back.

Always a wise thing to do, that.
