Resolution issue

Post by Cynic »

Newbie to Soundspectrum products here!

A question regarding full screen display resolutions for WMC 64 bit, running on Windows 7 Home.

I am running a media center on my TV (Sony Bravia KDL-40D3000). When WMC is in full screen mode, and I start the G-Force visualisation, it appears that the default resolution does it display the whole screen on the TV (TV native resolution is 1360 x 768, but is displaying in 1080p via HDMI from the media center). It looks as though it is displaying the top left quadrant on the screen, and the rest of the visualisation cannot be seen.

However, if I start the visualisation when WMC is windowed, it displays correctly in the middle of the window, and carries on to show correctly when I maximise WMC to full screen. From there, if I exit the visualisation and then go back to it (all from WMC in full screen), then I Sam back with the initial incorrect display again.

I presumed that the initial full screen issue was due to the default full screen resolutionof G-force being 1024 x 768 but I don't know why it would then be 'fixed' when starting in windowed mode.

I tried editing the press file, but tha didn't seem to make any difference. Although it is possible I didn't edit it correctly (at this point my knowledge of this kind of stuff is exhausted!

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Hi Cynic

open the tool bar underneath the main window you will see a small grey bar, click it and a new window will drop down there you will see some options for G-force. look under visualization preferences, choose the resolution you want from there and let me know how it goes

Hello Cynic

Information from SoundSpectrum:-

How do I change the full screen resolution settings?

Your display device may show G-Force best in a resolution different than the default full screen resolution. 1024x768 is the default resolution because most monitors and projectors show it well and it yields good frame rates for typical setups. If you have a faster setup or use a display device that looks best in a particular resolution, you will want to change the full screen resolution mode. While running G-Force, press M (the key for "Switch full screen resolution") to step through the available full screen resolutions. Be warned that frame rate decreases as full screen resolution increases (because G-Force must process more pixels). Also, see "How can I increase frame rate?" in the Performance section. Note: some media players, such as Windows Media Player don't allow plugins to request a particular full screen mode, so any full screen settings that you alter (by pressing M or a pref file edit) will have no effect.

Inspiration hit me as I was going to bed last night!

Changed WMC display properties from displaying in 1080p, 50Hz to the TVs native resolution of 1360 x 768.
This solves the problem, but the HDMI signal is displayed in 1080 by the TV anyway, so I don't lose the quality!

Score.

Thanks for the advice in any case folks :)
