audio out device hdmi

Post by dlestat »

I have my computer hooked up to my tv via hdmi, all my playyers, J river work fine and allow me to choose Default Sound Device or in my case ATI HDMI Card as the playback device. The sound card is what is processing the musice, but with G-force you do not have the option of choosing a Playback Device instead only a Recording Device, that seems strange. Gforce should allow you to pick the playback device that it listens to, to create its effects, thats what all other players do that have built in visual effects, they listen to the playback device and the effects are based on that and not the recording device. Im my case if I am listening to web radio the only way for G-force to work is to use it in full application mode and have the volume up enough for my webcam mic to pic it up. And I just bought 3 of your products, this is really really strange design to me. I do like the fact that you can choose a recording device, but by default playback devices is what should be driving G-force!!!!!

Sincerely,

Daniel

An application's design is dictated by the services that are provided by it's operating environment, namely the OS. While it is TRUE that it would be NICE if the program could be implemented YOUR way, operating systems, in general, don't view the world exactly that way ... right or wrong. Some people recognized that need, and implement additional functionality by means of a driver ... the standard method to add functionality to ANY operating system. Otherwise the application generating the SOURCE must provide the means of multiple output stream (interfaces)... makes sense? In a perfect world, 'Virtual Cable'-like facilities would be native to the OS, and it would eliminate the need to port to ANY specific player... alas, that is just NOT the way it is. If your sound card DRIVER does NOT supply a 'Record What You Hear' recording source (ASSUMING you purchased the stand-alone version), there is most likely a solution you could live with, but it is NOT free ($30 cheap!)
