Video Playback win 7 64 bit

Post by splungent »

Hello everyone,
I just got a new computer ( win 7 64 bit ) and installed the professional version of G-Force. Just about everything works well. The only issue so far is with video playback. Videos that worked when I was using a 32 bit XP install do not work with the windows 7 64 bit install. Is there a work around for this? Is anyone able to play videos with a win 7 64 bit installation? I am trying to play quicktime files. I was hoping there would be a work around in a config file or a similar fix. I am also interested in scripting video. Is there any special codes for video like there are for image overlay or does it all just fall under startsprite(movie)? As always I am grateful for any replies. Also looking forward to G-Force 4.0. Please keep me in mind for any beta test. My thanks to the Soundspectrum staff!
Thanks Christopher

Unfortunately, there is a slight bug in the current version of G-Force (3.9.4) causing videos not to display. Though, SoundSpectrum developers are aware of the problem and will address it in the next update. If you are a current commercial license holder and need to use video within G-Force, contact support to see about getting a copy of the previous version.

I hate to sound like a complainer but I sent a request for help with this matter to the support email and am still waiting for a response. I really like this product but am having second thoughts about the whole support situation. I did pay for the platinum version and paid for the professional version to use at shows. Now I am unable to use the professional version with video on my new performance computer. I will take responsibility for purchasing a 64 bit computer but I seem to remember 4.0 was supposed to be 64 bit compliant and out by the end of January so I guess it is my own fault for rolling the dice on what I read here. I also notice the 4.0 post is gone. It would be nice for someone to at least answer a support email regardless of what is done. I realize that the port to 64 bit may be difficult but I also asked for an earlier version as was recommended by sitsparky. I am still waiting for a response. I like this program because it is scriptable and can be customized. The video mixing is a powerful part of the program but I suspect I am just blowing hot air here. I guess I will just wait it out but I have to say I am a little disappointed.
Thanks Christopher

Hello splungent,

I have every copy of g-force since 3.1 beta and RC. If you knew which version you wanted and contacted me private message. I could get it to you. Do not think there would be any problem with Andy and crew, As you would still need your lic. code to install and activate?

Splungent,

I am with SoundSpectrum Sales and Support, and I have check (and answer) within these forums from time to time. However, I am not a forum admin and do not know your name or email address to track down any support ticket you might have sent to us. Additionally, I do not see any open tickets within our Support queue which match your request. I apologize if your request was misplaced or overlooked, though please open another ticket via our Contact form and I will look out for it.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for your responses. Things get lost in the shuffle sometimes, I understand. I want to thank you for your answers but now that 4.0 is out I think that should fix the issue. Thank you again.
Thanks Christopher

Same issue here.
And we need a version that can run video files asap.

@splungent: Are you saying you are using v4.0 now? How did you get it?

YES, if you are a current commercial / pro license holder then open a ticket with support and we will provide you with a link to the previous pro version of G-Force which handles video correctly.

Even if you are a current Gold / Platinum license holder and you wish to have video playback for your own personal enjoyment, write to support and we will review whether you are eligible to install a previous version.

We do not typically provide access to older versions, though, depending on the situation as well as whether there are any bugs or errors present in our current version, we can accommodate in some circumstances.
