MediaMonkey, G-Force, and Windows 7

Post by orgonebox »

Howdy -

I've got a license for the iTunes version of G-force, but have become disgusted with iTunes and Apple's obnoxious bloatational background processes, not to mention lack of file support and general memory consumption.

I've migrated my media library over to MediaMonkey, and am considering upgrading to platinum in order to have the wonderfulness that is G-Force. Can anyone tell me if G-Force works fine with MediaMonkey and Windows 7 on a 64 bit system, or should I wait for a compatibility update?

Thanks in advance.

Juxtiphi -

So you're saying that G-Force is not compatible with 64bit programs, but x86 programs like mediamonkey (and itunes) should run g-force just fine, regardless of the Windows 7 version?

I was able to run g-force on iTunes with Windows 7 64bit. Will it work on media monkey?

I could be wrong but as far as I know windows 7 supports 32 bit programs so it should work.

things are vague around here some times I am not really sure what is supported and what isnt. Gf 4 was supposed to be out in december or jan

if you get it running and it works no problem let others know.

I downloaded the trial version of g-force for mediamonkey and am happy to report that it works perfectly.

If the faq hasn't been updated recently to reflect the total windows 7 compatibility issue, perhaps you could include that g-force works with mediamonkey's latest on windows 7.

Indeed, out products are fine under Media Money, Winamp, etc on Win64 because what matters is what the host app bit width is. Currently, SoundSpectrum products have two and only two compatibility issues wrt to 64 bit:

1) we don't presently work under WMC on Win64 because MS enables the 64 bit version of WMC be default to run. In contrast WMP on Win64 runs us fine because MS ships the 32 bit version of WMP.

2) our screensaver presently does not work on OS 10.6 on machines less than two years old (ie machines with core2duos or later). This is because the OS X loads screen savers as a module rather than a process (in contrast to Windows), so if the system/kernel is 64 bit, then only 64 bit screen savers are loadable.

We anticipate GF 4, which will contain 64 bit support, very shortly. Look for a post shortly regarding where we're at with all this stuff.

Andy
