I am trying to find a way to get G-Force to visualise digital information.
My home theatre PC uses S/PDIF optical output exclusively to a 7.1 home theatre decoder / amplifier. I do not use ANY analogue signals whatsoever, in fact with the audio drivers / card it isn't possible to output simultaneously on both analogue and digital channels (Realtek HD Audio) and G-Force doesn't seem to like the 'digital' source.
Since I don't know where in the stream G-Force intercepts the audio it is a bit tough to diagnose why, the audio source is correctly identified in the G-Force control panel, but the visualisation is 'lazy' and clearly not responding to the underlying audio signal.
Any ideas anyone?

Visualisation of S/PDIF signals
A wise man makes a mistake once, a fool usually repeats it.
a couple of things ... You are probably NOT going to get it to process anything but PCM (ever) ... i.e., NO AC3 or DTS. Next, are you using a PC/XP or what? If you are... continue. I have S/PDIF input available through a M-Audio Firewire device, BUT the ONLY way I can get the Stand-Alone application to see my S/PDIF input (again vanilla PCM ONLY), is to set Control Panel->Sound & Audio Devices->Audio (Tab)->Sound Recording Default Device to the S/PDIF input. Trying to specify it ONLY by right click->Audio Input Source running the Stand-alone application, ONLY WORKS FOR >>> ME <<<, IF and ONLY IF I go through the XP control panel Setup FIRST... even though the application displays entries that MAY LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE you should be able to just set things up in the application! This a bug, but a bug I understand enough to get around...

I have a similar setup, Win 7 box - Media Center -> ac3 codec -> s/pdif -> receiver.BenKenobe wrote:Any ideas anyone?
ac3 codec is set to upmix to 5.1 or passthrough ac3 or dts.
As a result I had exactly the same problem as you do with g-force. My solution is crude but works. I pass receiver headphone back to an ancient creative labs soundcard line in and set g-force to analyse that. It means g-force only works in standalone mode but it works and with my remote it's easy to jump between g-force and media center.
