Full screen problems
Any help with this issue would be awesome and much appreciated.
I am running the G-force standalone through a MacBook Pro. I am trying to use it on a projector that i am using as a secondary screen. When I go to full screen my primary screen goes black and so i can't change the settings or use any other program at the same time without exiting full screen.
Anyone know how to resolve this. Ive tried playing around with different resolutions and had no luck.
Thanks, Laurie

Re: Full screen problems
I'm having the same problem -i'm on a Macbook pro with standalone g-force
It seems many people do (according to this forum) - but it's unclear if it can be rectified.
i paid for the software under the impression you can have g-force playing in one window whilst controlling it in the second - it's very frustrating not being able to do this. It seem its OK for PC users - Is it a mac thing?

this is an issue with how your videocard is set up.
in order for GF to be seen on two screens and still have control over the other you must set your card to have two separate desktops not just one extended or a clone.
If your video card doesnt not have these options then I think you're out of luck until you get one that does.

It's shocking you can't do this!juxtiphi wrote:this is an issue with how your videocard is set up.

I'm running a brand new MacBook Pro, with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.
To not be able to run the G-force on one screen and control it from another is bad, or I think, lazy programming, you're saying I've got to cart around a macpro just to be able to us this software properly.
It should be made very clear before purchase that Macbook pro users can't use the program like this.

I dont think you understand the limitations of your own hardware. I am saying that you need to go into your video cards options and set them for 2 separate desktops once you've done this you will be able to control GF from another screen. if your videocard doesnt have these options then its time to upgrade to one that does.
here is a quote from the GF faq
Can the full screen G-Force window span multiple monitors?
G-Force is built to support, by default , a single monitor and G-Force consequently does not have controls for multiple monitors. The reason for this is that there are thousands of different combinations of video cards, video drivers, and operating system controls (more than we can currently support). However, most multiple monitor configurations have driver/system controls for managing multiple screens, so please review your existing system controls (or your graphics card driver features).
again the work around for this is to set your video card to control 2 separate desktops just as I do then all you need to do is connect your comp to another screen via the proper cable and your in.
if thats not good enough for you open a support ticket with soundspectrum and get your money back
Thats right. I´m running on win xp sp3 and a ATI Radeon grafics 9250, and I use UltraMon for setting up 2 monitors. FullScreen works.juxtiphi wrote:this is an issue with how your videocard is set up.

Whats not working is the screensaver: with this one popping up my second screen goes black

click properties on your desktop, then click screen saver go to the GF screen saver and click settings there you will find 3 options .
display on main monitor
display on all monitors
and span all monitors
Separate desktops is not possible on mac without third party software, it also is very demanding of your cpu. Other programs for example, Quicktime have settings for which monitor you want to use for full screen and give the option to blackout other displays. This should be an option in G-Force and the other 3 visualizers. I have also looked into hiding the Title Bar as this would also work but again that must be done in the programming stages. So it looks like until full screen options are added into the program, people who are using Soundspectrum Visualizers on a Mac with dual screens are S.O.L.juxtiphi wrote:this is an issue with how your videocard is set up.

old pc: ati radeon 9250 128mb (DVI, VGA), two lcd´s (17", 22"), extended desktop 1->2, two different resolutions: lcd 1 went black with g-force going fullscreen on lcd 2
new pc: msi ATI Radeon HD4650 1024MB, (DVI, VGA), two lcd´s (22", 22"), extended desktop 1->2, two similar resolutions: lcd 1 not going black with g-force going fullscreen on lcd 2
I guess it a question of different resolutions.

No, it's your video card or its settings if you are referring to running G-Force standalone.rapanuy wrote: Just as an information:

I've run it full screen on a plasma tv while I work on my LCD monitor (monitor 1) both with ATI cards and now my Nvidia card. Each monitor has different resolutions.
Incidentally, I've always run that setup as an extended desktop.
At the moment, SoundSpectrum products use the OS to enter fullscreen mode. The unfortunate consequence of this is that the other display devices become black/unusable (and therefore can't really be used for, say, controlling the G-Force Toolbar).
For some time now, we've been considering using "window" fullscreen mode where the window in effect maximizes to the desired display device, allowing full use of the other display devices. The downside is that being able to select the fullscreen resolution therefore goes away. However, given that the user can always change the current res mode via the OS, it's not like users would be able to switch res modes (it just becomes more of a pain).
Also, in window fullscreen mode, performance can take a hit since exclusively using a display devices cuts out some of the OS's overhead.
So, I'm going to make a survey item so please think carefully and vote when you have a moment:
