Failed to Connect
well after restarting my computer I was having the same problem again. But after reading mysnds post and checking, I did find 'Bonjour' on my computer and uninstalled it. That took care of the problem. Thank you!!
Bonjour for Windows doesn't work with G-Force, even when you check remote netwok control. It looks like Bonjour is going to be around awhile, maybe something for Andy to look into with Apple. This problem started with the newest update from Apple and remote network control requires a pro license-Thanks
I sent andy an email yesterday, we'll see what happensmysnds wrote:Bonjour for Windows doesn't work with G-Force, even when you check remote netwok control. G-Force and Bonjour
Well it happened again but this time it's not so easy to just uninstall Bonjour and get G-Force back to full functionality.
Just installed a Lacie NAS and the drive administration software installed Bonjour which it uses to allow me to configure shares, users, etc.
Unfortunately the NAS admin software is more important than the G-Force toolbar so that leaves me in a tough spot.
Has there been any more information on this issue? Is it likely to get fixed?
Thanks,

Failed to Connect
I ran into the same problem when trying to launch the G-Force toolbar in Vista Media Player. I got the same error message: "The toolbar failed to connect to G-Force...". The problem, as you have said, is the Bonjour Service that is used by iTunes. Uninstalling the Bonjour app solved the problem in G-Force but caused iTunes to not work with full functionality. I found that a better solution was to stop the Bonjour Service before launching the G-Force toolbar.
You can do this by clicking the Start Menu> My Programs> Administrative Tools> Services> Bonjour Service, then click to STOP option. You will then have to restart Windows Media Play so that G-Force finds that the service has stopped. You can start the Bonjour Service before running iTunes. Also, the Bonjour Service will be restarted when you Restart your computer.
Is there some way to configure the connection or firewall (or whatever) so that G-Force does not conflict with the Bonjour Service?

Re: toolbar not connecting to G-Force
Just wanted to confirm mysnds' comment regarding the uninstall of "Bonjour" - uninstalled the program and everything worked properly...
I'm a newbee to the forum but using G-Force a couple of years. I had the same problem with the toolbar this last week. Checked the firewall, shut off the firewall, uninstall reinstall you name it for about four days. Then I looked into changes in TCP/IP network protocol. I discovered a program I wasn't familiar with on my Vista..."Bonjour"an Apple program I must have got when I installed Quicktime-itunes. Bonjour was left behind after uninstalling itunes. Uninstalled Bonjour and problem solved on my pc. I hope this helps.

g-force toolbar on mac
I do experience the same problem with an empty toolbar but on mac.
Any idea to solve that ?
I run no firewall, no access limitation on network.

bonjour is an apple program search for it and uninstall and GF toolbar should liight up
Port conflict
From what I can see(I used ProcessExplorer[3rd party app] to see this behavior), Bonjour starts a process called: mDNSResponder.exe which opens several ports including:
Local Address bind to-> Remote Address
TCP localhost:5354 localhost:2423
Whereas the Tool bar trys to open:
TCP localhost:2423 bind to-> localhost:5354
That part seems normal. what seems suspect is Bonjour also opens (before it opens 5353 and 2423 )
localhost:5354 bind to-> [machinename]:0 (remote address)
As far as I can remember that would shut out any other listeners (like the Toolbar)
So you have to shutdown the bonjour sevice, and then start the toolbar (wait until the lights are green on the toolbar, then restart Bonjour...
I tested this, it seems to work ok.

I use J River Media Center 13 and the V-Bar on Vista 32 bit. I get this error message (usually a couple of times) whenever I start playing a new song. I do not have Bonjour on the computer.
Any other potential reasons? I have the UAC enabled, but I grant access whenever G-Force or Media Center asks for it. Shouldn't be a firewall issue either.

the toolbar communicated via tcp with the G-force window If you have ever installed an apple program then you may unknowingly have installed bonjour, if you dont have it installed then try this,
unplug your comp from the internet and shut down your firewall and antivirus progs and see if the toolbar lights up if it does then you need to go through your firewall and AV settings until you find out whats stopping the toolbar from talking to the G-force.
also it is recommended that you stop all unnecessary programs and any antivirus from running while using G-force .

What I don't understand is why the G-Force toolbar is even trying to open for me.
It tries whenever I play a song in J River Media Center. I don't want the toolbar to open. I've got the option set to where it shouldn't be opening when G-Force starts. But it still evidently runs. I have no use for the toolbar; I just want the V-Bar running and G-Force running within J River Media Center. I don't mess with any settings on the toolbar.
And I still get the failed to connect error message. No firewall. No antivirus. No Bonjour.
