G-Force crashes instantly

Post by richard2k8 »

Hi I'm new to this, I have a serious problem with G-Force.... It instantly crashes windows media player... :( I previously was a plat subscriber but forgot to renew my licence. When G-Force stopped working it was a good "reminder" however even the newest demo crashes WMP. Is there anyone who has an idea what might be wrong? I have windows XP Pro SP3

go back and uninstall GF completely that includes deleting the soundspectrum folder located in C:/your documents/your user name/application data/soundspectrum.

then clean your registry restart your comp and then reinstall the most current version of GF. this has helped others in the past.

make sure GF winamp and your video drivers are all up to date

Thanks for your advice. I tried it (a couple times!)... still the same result. I guess theres something up with my computer, I'm not having problems with any other programs, but then again didnt used to have problems with GF either. I'll keep checking for an updated GF demo. If I can get the demo to run with no problems I'll subscribe again. I miss those visuals!!

Maybe it's DEP.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Execution_Prevention

Sometimes, that causes crashes of some programs.

if it was dep there should be a little window popping up telling you that windows has shut down a program in order to protect your computer.

Not always, but I did get an "access violation" error.

Since I made the complaint I have a duty to report the demo version is now working... it wasnt DEP as marko said, i would of had a warning. I actually have no idea what was causing the problem because it is now working again. I did redownload the demo, which was excatly the same file name as the previous download. I guess the only major change to my system as been the removal of my old norton 360 and also zonealarm pro. At the moment I'm using windows firewall with Norton System Works 2009. Saying that when I first ran the demo windows firewall did come up with a warning to allow g-force access to the internet.. but then so did zonealarm. Anyways I'm just happy its working again... I could be completely wrong about the firewall stuff btw...i have no idea what so ever

YAY!! bring on the visualisations!!!!! :) :D
