Bug Report - Nothing happens when I select GForce

Post by dspurlock »

OS: Vista Ultimate
Version of G-Force: 3.8.1 Platinum
Media Player: J River Media Center 12.0.497
Graphics hardware: Mobile Intel 965
CPU: Intel C2D T5450 1.67 GHZ
Other info: Version 3.75 Works.

Bug Description
There is an option to set GForce as my visualization in JRiver Media Center. I select GForce, nothing happens. JRiver switches back to (or remains on) Cover Art.

How to Replicate Bug
This is only happening with 3.81 .. 3.75 Works. I can duplicate this is 2 computers.

Same issue for me.

3.8.1 doesn't launch in JRMC while earlier versions of GForce do. :(

Similar deal: versions 3.x.x through 3.8.0 all worked.

Version 3.8.1 doesn't even exist in the View -> Visualizer menu.
[all installed components *appear* to be in their proper places.]

I *can* run G-Force V-Bar and G-Force Standalone.
G-Force Toolbar launches, but is useless.
[and why is there no Album Art option in the screensaver?]

iTunes 7.6.2, QuickTime 7.4.5, Leopard 10.5.2, MacBook Pro [Nov. 2007].

Fix this! [please].

Anyone know WHERE we can download older versions?
I now need to get back to 3.8.0 until this is resolved.

Fixed my issue (probably different from the other users' problems) by
restoring the *.bundle/Contents/PkgInfo file... which I had "cleaned".

when ever you install a new version of GF you should uninstall the old version completely and delete all traces of the previous instalation from your comp. search your computer for all soundspectrum folders and delete then resart your comp and reinstall GF. this has helped many others with similair issues.

Yep, I'm seeing this too.

Latest trial versions of G-Force, SoftSkies, Whitecap - none of them work in J River Media Center. They appear in the visualizations menu, but selecting them just reverts to Cover Art.

New install on a clean system, too.

I can select G-Force, but nothing happens...

I was working just fine until it told me about the update... something I usually look forward to.

Bummed.

I am having this problem too. I first had it last night on my VistaHP system, and now this morning at work on my XP Pro. Uninstalled 3.6.1, restarted the OS, started Gforce standalone in hopes it may "prime" something, starts fine in standalone. Tried J River Media Center 12.0.497. No luck. Updated JRiver Media Center to 12.0.507 and still no luck. Would like to get a copy of 3.8.0 too if that was working fine.

I hadn't continued my licence from 3.6.1 as GForce was constantly crashing from many versions previous to version 3.6.1 on my HTPC which was my main place of use for it. I was hoping that with enough time passed that that buggie which plagued my HTPC may be squished, so I renewed my licence. But now I can even get it to run :( Very disappointing. So anyone got that 3.8.0 handy? Thanks, sorry for the rant. I love GForce and just would really love for it to work properly again.

If Andy created GF for the last Jriver media center then updating JR to the most current version may cause GF to not work. Sometimes GF needs to be updated again when a player (like j river) gets updated to a new version so now that there is a new version of jriver there may be a wait for a GF that works with it.

I have the exact same issue. Can see GForce on the Jriver menu but nothing happens when I select it. After multiple tries of installing and uninstalling I had to uninstall 3.81 and reinstall the prior version 3.75 to get it working.

The installer needs to be fixed.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem as blaircollins after installing updates to both Whitecaps and G-Force which J River Media Center does not recognise. The problem is specific to this player. Earlier versions worked OK so the problem is with Soundspectrum to sort out ASP and notify users when the fix is available

I checked the website and could not find any reference to the update modelmaker is referring to. Unless there is a web reference I think we are being taken for a ride.

I registered as a beta tester, downloaded the G Force 3.8.2b1 beta and can confirm that it can be activated using J River Media Center. :D

I will continue to check the beta releases as I am experiencing the same problem with the latest release of White Caps platinum and note that there is no beta version released at this time. :(
