G-Force runs on my computer pretty much 24/7, mostly under MusicMatch-9.0. I tested it under MusicMatch-10 for a while, but MM10 sucks so badly that I downgraded. If G-Force dies, I restart it. If it really dies, I reboot if necessary, restart MusicMatch and restart G-Force. Whatever I am doing, a 780x630 pixel G-Force window is always taking up about a quarter of my desktop. Whenever I am waiting for something to do something, which is a lot of the time, I pop it to the top and just enjoy the hell out of it. Whenever I am reading or doing other non-computer stuff, I just stow all of the other windows and do my thing while my music and G-Force provides me with pleasant, subconscious stimulation. If I am not at least watching it out of the corner of my eye for 12 hours a day, I must be having a real hectic day, but that doesn't happen too often. It don't get no better than that!
Take care.

I'd hafta say "other" because it depends on what I have it on for.
Obviously, when I'm engaged in "config makin' fool" mode, well...I don't need to go any further with *this*, no do I? ;)
I also like to just have it on when I'm in the mood to watch it dance to whatever music I wanna hear. Sometimes, I use the standalone as an accompaniment to what I watch on TV, as all I need to do to make it work is activate the built-in mike to pick up the sound. Plus, I don't even need to turn up the volume. All I hafta do is ratchet up the response gain.

One serious way I've been using it, as perhaps you can glean from some of the posts I've been making recently, is to compare and contrast the standalone to the iTunes build.

Hi

I use G-Force to enhance my musical experience. I have been into audio-visual effects since I can remember, but was absolutely blown away by G-Force. Sometimes, I just sit in my chair, iTunes on the go, G-Force providing the visuals and I STARE!!

Often, I use it as a 'backdrop' when folks are round for a few drinks, and every single person at some point will say - Wow - and I say G-Force - and then they want the web address...

G-Force is awesome. Thanks for providing a hedonist with hours of entertainment. Each version is better than the last. All I need to do now is get a lead long enough to go from my computer's graphics card to my TV so I can watch G-Force in Widescreen - have you thought about providing 16:9 support??

Thanks again.

My use of G-force

Post by Rotundus »

I find that G-force is very usefull as a music continuity analizer. If one of my new tunes or remixes has a "beat flaw", G-force will have a noticable "glitch" in its display. Now if I can only figure out how to get it to sinc-up with Sony ACID 5, Soundforge 7, and Mix Meister Pro6 so I can pinpoint the offending error that much quicker. 8)

Oh yeah. I almost forgot. It's also really cool just to sit and stare at for hours on end while I should instead be working on my latest mix. :|

I chose "Watch it intensely" because that's what I most commonly do with it.

But I also frequently use it casually to go with whatever music I happen to be listening to. (I've made some pleasant discoveries this way - just last night I learned that G-Force is excellent with surf guitar.) I also run it as background eye candy at casual gatherings and parties. Often on those occasions, G-Force will shift from background to foreground as people get sucked in. :)

I have a 266 Mhz Beige G3 (well, it's spray painted black now) running iTunes sitting in my entertainment center connected to my home theater system. It is dedicated to being my music jukebox. When I'm playing music through it, I turn on a visualizer to play on my TV. It used to be the built-in iTunes visualizer, but now it is G-Force Gold or Whitecap SE.

If anybody is interested in the details of my setup, feel free to ask.

my computer serves as my hifi for my room at uni so whenever I'm using it to purely to provide music G-Force tends to be running on top of iTunes.

Sounds like a way cool setup. Take a pic or two of the setup playing G-Force and post it here--I think most people would get a kick out of seeing it.

Yeah i'd like to see some pics of that.

Iused to have a sharp projector and i ran it across my room so the whole room kinda moved with the music.

But i sold the projector as i was getting to many hippys moving into my lounge and claiming squatters rights. Now thay have all gone but i do have a nice collection on pipes now :)

Still i was nice to lie in the room in the dark with the wall and ceilings moving and my senhieser headphones on just chilling.

aaahhh those were the days
I'll come to bed once i've seen everything in G-Force.

I run G-Force full screen on a 42" Panasonic Plasma in my living room whilst playing music via JRMC running on my HTPC. I mostly watch it casually to relax but often find myself staring at it intensly.

I'm running it in my lounge/media room on my 119 cm rear projection tv. It really enhances the vibe! I've been looking for something like this for ages. I run it stand-alone so i can use my (unsupported) Creative Mediasource - which has the advantage of (among many things) being able to use an infrared remote to control playback thru Creative's Soundblaster Audigy2 NX USB soundcard.

Your poll is too limited in choices and I hate the "jus

Post by Son of a Border Scot »

You should have left out the "just" and allowed individuals to choose more than one. If you want to analyze, limit to three choices, then, and you would be able to cluster-analyze. Also, expand choices to 18. That's the best number in polling.
