Whitecap Platinum 5.0.2 claims "...cannot run ..."
Whitecap 5.0.2 platinum claims:
"Whitecap cannot run on this computer because it lacks the required graphics hardware or because the latest graphics drivers aren't installed"
This is plainly wrong.
I have an NVidia GForce 7600GS. I just upgraded to the latest NVidia driver set.
This is under Windows XP SP2

Hrm... Try deleting all your prefs by deleting the dir:rd_taylor wrote:Whitecap 5.0.2 platinum claims:

My guess is that you had some old prefs around from the beta or something that were turning off use of Direct3D.

Interesting...
I deleted the folder as you suggested, then re-ran Whitecap. It reported the same error.
However, in the Application Data folder, the file "Version Update Info.txt" has this inside it
---
VNum=474
VStr="WhiteCap 4.7.4"
---
I uninstalled Whitecap, deleted the Whitecap folder under Application Data again, and re-installed.
I get exactly the same error, and the prefs file is recreated showing version 4.7.4 again.
Also, please note that Whitecap 5.0.2 standalone runs fine, and responds to music that JRiver Media Center is playing. It is ONLY the version which runs inside JR Media Center which shows this bogus error message.
This same error occurs on ALL 4 of our household machines:
Desktop with NVidia GForce 7600GS
Desktop with NVidia GForce PCX 5750
ASUS Laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon X1700
Desktop with NVidia Gforce 7300GT
All machines run Soundspectrum GForce perfectly.
All machines are running Windows XP SP2.

same problem on Nvidia 7600GT with the latest driver.
On JR media center 12 ,whitecap 5.01,02 show only black and say "intalling the latest driver" even though I did.
OK On winamp and jetaudio ,,Just Not on JR
and Skies version 1.02 is fine on JR but Skies version 1.03 has the same problem as whitecap do.
how advanced graphic card required for Whitecap? workstation graphic class??

I have the same problem when using JR Media Center 12.0.349 with Whitecap and Softskies. G-Force is OK.rd_taylor wrote:Whitecap 5.0.2 platinum claims:

All 3 products are fine with iTunes.

Please verify that you also get this message (or not) if you use WhiteCap standalone. Also, please specify what audio players you're having the problem under if you haven't already.rd_taylor wrote:Whitecap 5.0.2 platinum claims:

If everyone here that's having this problem could answer the above, that would be very useful info for us--we're trying hard to make progress on this issue.
Thanks,
andy
Check your Drivers
I have just downloaded WhiteCap a few days ago and I was getting the same error. I had to update my Forceware drivers to the latest build to get it to run.
Check this to find the driver you need if you can't find it on the NVIDIA site http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHI ... 5615.shtml

I too am getting the exact same error on all of my machines that I've tried it with thus far. Unfortunately, I just paid for Platinum sight-unseen (that's how much I knew I'd like it).
Details:
Whitecap fails with MC 12.0.353 (current build) and gives the "update driver" error message.
Standalone works fine in all cases. Windows Media Player install also works fine. It appears, as everyone else mentioned, that it only happens with MC12.
Hardware:
Machine 1: ATI (AMD) X800XT AIW -- Catalyst 7.5
Machine 2: ATI (AMD) X1900XT -- Catalyst 7.10
Machine 3: Apple MacBook Pro in Bootcamp with ATI X1600 onboard -- Bootcamp 1.4 drivers.
Luckily I hadn't tried to install the newest Softskies yet, so I'll stick to 1.2 since it works for me.

Hi Glynor...we must be on the same wavelength...
I, too bought WC5 without checking it out very thoroughly.
I also have a bunch of machines around the house (no macs though), none of which it runs properly on.
Beats me how there are people out there who say it's running fine for them...
It seems to be taking a while to sort out this problem...
Oh well...at least we have the beautiful GForce to play with in JR Media Center still...
