v5.0.1 Trial Problem
I've got a black screen, no imagery, with the v5.0.1 trial as with the previous v5.0. I won't even think about purchasing a copy of Whitecap until this glitch is cleared up.

whitecap is working fine for me.
if you have a problem it helps to post your system specs so those who know can help you solve said problem.

With the Whitecap v5.0.1 trial, upon activating it there's a red screen for a fraction of a second and then the Whitecap title, which seems to remain for a rather extended period of time and then fades to a black screen which continues, no imagery appearing.
I've been using G-Force Platinum for some time(got the latest version) with no problems, everything running smoothly there.
I've got a 17" Powerbook 1GHz w/ 1.5GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX (64MB VRAM)
iTunes 6.04
OS 10.4.9

I have the same issue with both 5.0 and 5.01.Shantibaba wrote:I've got a black screen, no imagery, with the v5.0.1 trial as with the previous v5.0. I won't even think about purchasing a copy of Whitecap until this glitch is cleared up.

Just tried version 5.0.2 and it informs me that it can't be run on my computer because it doesn't have necessary graphics hardware. I guess Whitecap 5 is more resource intensive than G-Force, which runs fine for me.
Would be nice if minimum requirements for Whitecap were listed somewhere.
So, looks like no Whitecap for me unless I upgrade to a newer Mac.....I feel so deprived.

That can't be right; coz here's my problem...and I'm struggling with 5.0.2 as well:
Even though the Standalone and the iTunes plug don't work, the V-Bar *does*...at least for mine. Try checking your WhiteCap V-Bar and activating it.
EDIT: The minimum requirements system-wise is recorded as being 10.3.9 Panther on a Mac; so logically it should run on my 10.4.1 machine no problem.

I've been using the trial version of Whitecap, which doesn't include the Standalone and V-Bar. You, apparently, purchased your Whitecap copy. If it still doesn't work fully for you, your Mac may not have a graphics card advanced enough for Whitecap's needs, or possibly some other components in your machine are just not up to speed.
Anyway, it would be good if the minimum HARDWARE requirements for Whitecap were posted; the minimum OS requirements are not an issue here.

I agree; hardware spec demands should be posted; but here's my issue.
I performed a lot of beta testing to help prep for the first public release of WC 5; and 95 precent of the time, there were no problems (EDIT: I was on regular OS 10.4). I ran into the issue we're all discussing here with the last beta, i.e. no WhiteCap standalone/iTunes since then (see **below).
Andy suggested that I update to OS 10.4.1, which as I understand it includes updates in the graphics and sound cards...to wit, hardware. And so I did under the impression that one would consider doing just that a reason for making certain things that had not worked previously come alive again.
And that's precisely what I hoped would happen when I did the point upgrade. Two out of thre instances of that hope are currently grounded; but here's the kicker, as I suggested before:
**Why is the V-Bar in WhiteCap working for me if the other two are not because of the Insufficient Hardware message on the console, despite my system upgrade?
I only use bold lettering here to make a point. Namely, this Insufficient Hardware messgae seems downright fishy to me. And I'll wager money on the contention that anyone else here who
A) works on a Mac 10.3.9 thru 10.4.5
and
B) downloaded a full, paid-for version of WhiteCap
will discover this if they open the WhiteCap V-Bar.

Get the same problem
Just downloaded it today and in Vista MC it worked once but the transition was messy to say the least. Every other time I've tried it my screen just locks up. Stays black. MC is still active in the background as I can hear the beeps as I press keys and I can get it to quit but no more visualiser...
As soon as this works property I'll get the gold version...
Good luck...
PS. Vista, Kontron mobo, T7200, 1G-RAM, Nvidia 7950GT.
Machine's used only as a media center, no other software installed...
