Darkroom

Post by John van Hulst »

Hi all of you,

I own a Windows PC, want to use G-Force and Darkroom in a music video, but unfortunately Darkroom is not yet a Windows program. I experimented with screen grabbers, but that isn't a success, to say the least... But: I have a neighbour with an Apple (OS X)! So I asked him if he could make a Quicktime movie on his Mac for me...

Well, you understand I don't know very much (better: nothing) about a Mac, and my neighbour doesn't know very much about programs like G-Force and Darkroom. At least ITunes is installed on his Mac, as I could see (is ITunes needed?).
So we downloaded Darkroom and Darkroom wanted an 'engine'. Reading this site I found out this means G-Force or maybe Whitecap must be installed. So we downloaded G-Force for ITunes (with Panther?) and tried to install it. We didn't succeed to get G-Force working and neither I or he knows why!

Could someone give me a detailed description what steps I must follow to get Darkroom working? Probably first how to get G-Force working... Please bear in mind that, although I consider myself an experienced Windows user, I know nothing about OS X.

Thanks in advance!

I would try to make sure of two things:

1. That you have the latest version of Darkroom (1.3.5) installed.

2. That you have the latest version of the OS X operating system (Mac OS 10.3.6).

Naturally, it makes sense to have the latest builds of WhiteCap and G-Force available, too.

As long as you're certain you've done these steps, there shouldn't be a problem from there on. But if there is, do let us know.

So I upgrade to Gforce gold and try and find out how to record my visualizations.

I'm a bit disapointed to find after reading this thread that it's only available for mac Image

Even so, it's still kickass! Image

I know of Fraps for games and camtasia for desktop. What others are there?
