BUG? SoftSkies Platinum and Windows MCE 2005 SP2

Hi,

I purchased SoftSkies platinum edition and it works perfectly in Windows Media Player 11, with cover art showing and all the menus functioning, with the ability to select the various modes of operation (Living Images, Natural, etc.).

However - and this is a big problem for me as I use MCE 2005 exclusively to play audio - the visualisation defaults to "random" or "natural skies" from what I can tell. I can't get any living images or any other options set in Media Center, even if I set it in WMP11 first. I have no options available to me to select the mode of operation.

In addition, coverart is not working and causing a problem. The inbuilt MCE2005 coverart shows fine, but there is an error message in the top left corner of the screen "Error reading cover art (Err: -55101)" and the SoftSkies coverart doesn't show (even if I disable Media Center's coverart display) - error messages on your visualisation screen aren't the best thing to have showing...

So - although I can use it fine in WMP11, it's not workable in MCE2005 and therefore I may have blown my $'s by not checking this out first as Media Center is the only way I listen to audio on the PC...

Can anyone help me out?

GF ans SS are programs that have not seen their final versions yet. Andy and the crew are always trying to make eveyone happy which means the programs are always changing but its a lot of work to keep up with 15 players that dont keep GF or SS in mind every time they update their progs.

A good way to combat bug issues is for you to join the beta testing. That way you can give your feedback right to them via email.

There must be a link to join the SS beta list or email support directly asking about it give it a try.

on a side note, it pays to be flexable, get used to having many players for different reasons and soon you'll be happy well maybe happier

it may be a bit of work but if you use your computer a lot for music and video like I do then more than enough is necessary to get full functionality.

I use winamp, foobar, vlc, bsplayer,sonique 1 and 2, and I also use wmp and musicmatch but for GF beta testing only.

each prog has its perks and even though it would be nice to have all the stuff I like in one player it hasnt been built yet yet so I adapt. I have found that I dont get as stressed out because when one player doesnt have the function I want I just start another and I'm in, and once I really learned which progs did what it became easier to have what I want at my fingertips.

Thanks, of course what I really meant was Media Center is the only program the wife will use for music playback!

I realise not all things work completely all the time with so many variables (not least being Microsoft), but wondered if there was a way that it "might" work with Media Center. I use a number of products, just would be nice if I could get it to work with my "majority of the time" player.

If it's not possible to have the full functionality, that's cool - more interested in seeing if anyone else has similar experiences with Media Center and the visualisations (G-Force works great!).

Hi, I have exactly the same problem at my Vista Media center.

The media center effects are the same as under windwos media player, but without the menu options to configure it. This is no problem for me, but it seems that it does not use the settings I made in Windows Media player.

The skies go in some random mode between normal skies and purple / yellow skies.

It would be nice if someone can figure out how to configure the display mode that Media center should use.
