stand alone
Hi guys.
I want to download the whitecap/gforce programs but I would like to ask some questions.....
Is it possible to run them (whitecap/gforce) in tandem with for example megaseg DJ software, in essence having whitecap playing through the mac into a projecter and at the same time being able to control the megaseg or other dj software interface on the same monitor?
I will upgrade to gold by the way but I just need to know if these issues are solvable.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Not on the same monitor. To do that you need something like the TwinPact100 that can send a video feed directly from a selected window. I have an S-Vid out on my video card that runs to my TV as a 2nd monitor. I just drag it to that monitor and full screne it. You need to have an alternate vid out (other than your monitor) and to be able to configure it as a 2nd monitor.

Great, that clears up one problem. I now know on one monitor its not possible. The method you described above is it for mac or pc?Wolf wrote:Not on the same monitor. I really appreciate your help.
PC... As long as you have another way to display video other than the plug your monitor uses, then it should work on a Mac. If you don't, you should look into getting another vid card or finding a cheep capture card with S-Vid out. S-Vid has better quality than composet video (the yellow vid cable), but either will work.

So if I wanted to do this with two monitors instead of the twinpact, could you decribe that set up to me if possible.Wolf wrote:PC... Thanks mate, you are being a real help.
This is the best way I could describe it:

I have my TV set up as another monitor (extend the desktop) through the S-Vid cable. I start up Winamp (or any mediaplayer supporting GF), load G-Force, drag it to the TV, and resize it to fill the screen.
If you notice in the pic, I actually have 3 ways to output video (allowing 3 display devices). You need at least 2 for this to work. Most notebooks (including Mac) has a VGA out on it and can be configured to be a 2nd display to the one built into the notebook. The MacMini only has one display connecter (DVI), thus you would need a USB/Firewire device that could act as another monitor.
Also, megaseg DJ does not directly support GF/WC. You would need to get a male-male audio cord and run one from your speaker out to the line in on the computer. Then open the standalone version of GF/WC (Gold only). The same concept appalies to displaing it; just fill the screen.
If you really want to, you could buy a cheep PC for arround $100-$200 that would be powerful enough to run G-Force or WhiteCap smoothly; useing the Mac to mix and the PC for the visual.
I feal like a chemistry teacher... I understand all of this, but have a hard time explaning it.

Projecter, TV, DVR, DV Camcorder, it is all the same. Just set it up as another display, and drag G-Force overe there.GUNDAM-RX78 wrote: By the way to display what is on the second screen to a projector I just have to have a s-video going to the projecter from the 2nd monitor?

Unless you actually have a device plugged into the 2nd output, the computer will not recognize it. What are the video outputs you have? This could help me precisely target the problem.

You mean plug in an s-video to the 2nd monitor and the projecter will see it? Im looking to display the second monitor into a projecter.Wolf wrote:You don't need another monitor; just plug it directly into the projector and the computer should see it.
Exactly like your great diagram but with a cable maybe s-videeo outta the 2nd monitor and into a projecter.
Ok, I see what you are doing now. = I need to know exactly all the video connections you have and on what device, both inputs and outputs. This is so I can give you the correct adapters and setup.GUNDAM-RX78 wrote:

eg..
Mac - 2 DVI out
Display One - DVI
Display Two - VGA
Projector - VGA in, S-Vid in, Composite in, DVI in
DVI

VGA

S-Video

Composite

Ok wolf.
My bosses havent bought the 2nd monitor so I cant say but the mac we are using has an s-video and a mini VGA and a DVI, on the projecter is a s-video and RCA and a VGA.
I heard on VGA the cable cant be over two meters long?
thanks.
to be able to do what I want to do what outputs would we need on the 2nd monitor?

This is assuming you already have a DVI monitor:

This is the cheepest and easiest route.
Use DVI as your primary monitor.
Mini VGA to VAG Adapter - $12.00
VGA Y Splitter Cable - $7.04
