Neverlasting Question: Freqency of Sprites?

Hello,
I've seen the question a few times, but not an answer:

How can I manage, that my sprites appear without timelap?

I tried to change SDUR and SINT in the (default).txt of the (backgrounds)-Folder.
I even tried to change SetPref( PREF_SPRITE_INTERVAL) and SetPref( PREF_SPRITE_DURATION) in the boot.txt... but ... no effect.

I'm using WMP 10 and G-force 2.80.

Would be very glad about an experts hint.
