why is it so

Post by manuel »

why is it so that the good old i-tunes buildt-in g-force spinn off is able to produce wonderfull smoth transitions between flowfields and the "offical" g-force stand-alone release is not capable of that....

i'm asking because it would be so very very important to have that
if you want to know why try the following...

make some musik in itunes
enable itunes buildt in "itunes Visualizer"
press appel / f (full-screen)
press m twice (no more random changing)
now try to change the flowfields in the beat (press key a or s)

that means you change the flowfield so that the new flowfield
is coming in the moment the beats counts 1 again (after 8 bars for example)...to do that you need to press a or s around 1 bar before the new1 (depending on the tempo of the song it might be more ore less than one bar)

try it it will blast your mind away if you do it right
an example of counting 8 bars (a typical pattern of modern music) in a midtempo song.

find a good starting point in the musik like the refrain or the start of the verse than count to the beat from the drums

1234 - 2234 - 3234 - 4234 - 5234 - 6234 - 7234 - 8(press a or s )234-
1-- here the next 8 bars would start

if the song is slower you need to press at 7234 - 82(press)34
if the song is faster you press 723(press)4 - 8234

try a little you need to count to produce recallable results
if you hit the right moment and the flowfield is good in its mood to what happens in the musik this is really something!!
if you go one doing it a while you will find yourself grooving and mooving to the musik injekting flowfield changes in strange moments and seeing the result coming exactly synchronised to the screen reflecting the pattern changes in the musik (hit the keys quick to go up to or three flowfields at once)

it is really very much what it should look like

i hope very much i can somehow make the relevant developers understand the importance of this "little" change in code...because it is such a mighty moment when the canges comes synchronized ....
and it would make g-force really perfect...(by the whay? why was it not implemented in g-force from the beginnig??? when it was in the i-tunes visualizer???)

thank you very much for your interest

In short, iTunes' adaptation of GF has some advantages and some disadvantages. The advantage is the one that you pt out--that is, you can change flowfields at any time and it won't stutter. the disadvantage is that iTunes's FF transtions are nowhere near as good-looking as GF's (IMHO). GF is mean to look it's best in all-slideshow mode. particularly, when GF is in FF slideshow mode, it won't change FFs unless the "next" FF is fully computed. the reason GF pauses a sec or two when you change FFs manually is b/c FFs take a lot of CPU to calculate and are normally broken up into pieces over 10-20 secs.

im sorry for the delay and thank you for your reply

let me ask you one more question
ist there any possibility to get hands on a version of GF that is like the i-tunes adaptation, but without the apple logo and may be stand-allone?

or can i get rid of the apple logo somehow?

and do you plan to release a version of GF where the transitions are smooth i tryed to explain in my first posting why this semms so important to me ?

thank you
many greetings from munich germany
