Disable or change Whitecap commands (keystrokes)

Post by izblah »

Hi! First off - I just wanna' say great apps Andy! I've been up with Whitecap since ~1999, then G-Force when it came out. Very glad to see some momentum building in updating these great apps (and not just tumbleweeds blowing around here).

Okay, I recently built a new rig w/ Windows Media Center and dumped all my movies/music over to it. Windows Media Center basically uses a special verison of Windows Media Player, so the Whitecap/G-Force plugins work fine... only with Whitecap there is a problem.

When visualizing music, the +, -, Backspace keys do NOT work. The plug-in takes precedence over all keystrokes that Media Center would normally use to exit the visualization and navigate to other music/movie files... I have to use the mouse to get out or Alt-F4 it. Can't press a keyboard/remote key...

Is there a way to disable Whitecap keystrokes?
Searching these boards I've only found reference to this issue here-> http://forums.soundspectrum.com/viewtopic.php?t=267

But, this discussion revolves around G-Force. And the last post in that thread by JayPro reads...
...when GF is within a given Windows-end media player such as the one(s) described here, that player's hotkeys take precedence over (read: hijack) the assigned key commands otherwise reserved for G-Force by itself.
...which is simply NOT the case with Whitecap. The Windows keys, +, -, etc. do not override the Whitecap keys.

So... can we disable or change Whitecap's keymapping in a config or something? Any help would be appreciated...

[originally posted 12 Apr 06 in G-Force board - moved and edited to correctly state that this is a Whitecap only issue...]

Hello!Hello!Hello!Hello!Hello!

Guess i spoke too soon... about those tumbleweeds...

Anywayz, I'll take that as a NO. I cannot disable Whitecap's keystrokes.

I originally posted this in the G-Force board, and then noticed this problem wasn't happeneing on my MCE G-Force viz anymore. Well, after some further testing, this problem DOES affect G-Force - just not always, I'll have to do some further investigating and nail down when it actually does/doesn't occur. It's currently intrermitant. I think I'm just talking to myself here anywayz... :?

Izblah: so... Thanks for the help Izblah.

Izblah: Your welcome Izblah. I'll look for your next message discribing your problem. Hope I can be of further assistance!

Izblah: No prob. Laterz...
