Upgrade. Can i still use my current version?

Post by Victorious »

If i upgrade to the Gold version... will i still be able to use my existing G-force? (2.2).
I have a few configs etc that are favourites which i would hate to lose
I have scanned the forum and find no mention..
I assume the upgrade does not overwrite V2.2?

Specifically, the Gold upgrade entitles you to use the FlowField Union effect type, which isn't available in the "trial" version. You should have no problems at all using *anything* else you have in your copy of G-Force.

Also, the Gold version takes away the ocassional purchasing reminders and the like. Plus you'll not have to pay for any subsequent Gold versions if you buy now.

EDIT: Thanks RS for making the save for me. If there's one thing I don't have, it's the gft of brevity ;)

just first copy and save the configs(/directories of configs you want) and then copy them back when you install the new version. There are heaps of new configs in teh new version.

Is there any program or method available to convert (scripts) from 2.2 to Gold?

I've got quite a few that I use regularly and would really like to automate the conversion.

I downloaded free version and then upgraded to gold. I have both the trial version and the gold as choices on musicmatch :D

Automate?
I have about 20 simple scrips in 2.2 I'd be happy if i could rewrite them!
My sparse knowledge from scripts in 2.2 seems of no use for Gold

Cant find a particles file in"Gold".. How can i chuck the particles i hate when i cant find em ?

Cant get D -T Birds to run as a waveshape... :x
sample bins? :?

2.2 still does what it did so not suffering from G-Force withdrawls yet

Gold runs so much smoother and transitions are just cute :)
need a "tutorial" for it

Since G-Force v2.5, the WaveShapes and things which had been in a separate "Particles" file were brought together into one WaveShapes folder. The easiest way to tell which one is a particle is to look at the Meta file and see whether the "Morphable" parameter is used. If it is, it's a waveshape. If it isn't, well...

Therefore, if you want DT-Birds to run as a part of the "true" waveshape slideshow, first find out if the Meta file for the effect shows a Morphable parameter. If it doesn't, simply add Morphable and give it a value of 4.

Sorry that a lot of your knowledge and work in GF 2.2 scripting won't apply to GF 2.5. I made the decision to add a lot of fuctionality in 2.4 (at the penality of of back-compatibilty). If you look that GF 2.5 example scripts, you should be able to reproduce your efforts in not much time. You'll find GF 2.5 a big step above 2.2 (and worth the time to switch).
