MAC, OSX 10, GF STAND ALONE, & SYS AUDIO: ITS POSSIBLE

Post by MJB »

Using a Mac running Yosemite it is possible to get GF (in its stand alone version) to see system audio: Two additional apps are needed, but they are not expensive: AudioSwitcher and Boom 2. After installing both be sure to download the helper app that goes with Boom 2. This helper app allows Boom 2 to grab system audio so that it can apply its equalizer settings. After getting familiar with both apps set GF to use Boom 2 as its input source. AudioSwitcher will appear to have its output stuck on Boom 2 but that is ok. It will still allow one to send output to other choices (even though it will not reflect this in the drop down menu bar window). Also in AudioSwitcher’s preferences (little gear icon in upper left corner of menubar window) be sure to disable Boom 2’s volume and mute controls. This keeps Boom 2 from controlling the system volume. That’s it…..

1) Note that elsewhere in the GF forums it is suggested Sound Flower might do the trick, but I believe Sound Flower is dead and has been for some time….

2) There are probably other ways to accomplish the same outcome. If anyone knows of some please post them. I do not know if the above works with any other type OSX, only Yosemite…. Good luck…
