Streaming Music

Post by FrankN »

Hi guys,

Apparently, I've been quiet lately! I thought I'd change that, and start a debate.

I'm sick of the music I listen to, and I feel like it's gotten so hard to find new stuff without getting buried in the avalanche of music out there.

What music are you listening to these days? I've been listening to a lot of internet radio. What stations do you listen to?

I've been streaming terrestrial stuff like:

- WFMU

- Hot 97

But also, internet-only stations like:

- AfterHours FM

What about you guys?!

I had not noticed!!! Only two of the links work here in the UK, didn't like the stuff they played anyway.

I use Spotify radio station, you can select your genre, and decade which as an old geyser suits me well. Give it a try.

There's something that I love about radio, with a DJ, that makes me happy. I love Spotify, but after a while it feels a little personality-less to me. That's why I posted actual radio links.

Hello Frank

Now I am totally of the opposite to you. I can't stand these so called DJ's who talk, and talk....... I just wanna listen to the music.

Let's have some other opinions.

Hello All

Just heard that Apple are about to start a streaming service. Trouble with that is that you have to pay a monthly subsciption, with Spotify you can subscibe if you want but they offer an add paid FREE service.

High time I chimed in.....

In Australian capital cities we have AM and FM Stations now broadcasting in Stereo using an AAC Codec - known as DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcast Plus).

I'm in Adelaide, so for you guys to listen online to some Aussie stations you will need to search for or head to...

hit107 dot com (Adelaide commercial station)
961 dot com dot au (Sydney commercial station)
gorillasuperdigi dot com ; DAB+ or online only - Dance (Sydney commercial station)

And click the listen live, listen now or listen menu.

Enjoy, hope my post doesn't infringe on the forum rules, that's not my intention, I just wanted to contribute some local Aussie options for others overseas.

Thanks,

Alf :)

FRANK EDIT: I removed a radio station that tried to install software on my browser. Everything else is safe!

You're good Oz

I dislike radio very much! all the commercials and repeating of songs ad nauseam. Anything with commercials is not for me. I am really getting tired of tv, but that's another story.

I consider music to be something personal, I listen to live music almost exclusively which means I do not listen to the radio or watch MTV. instead, I collect live recordings of my fav bands which play my fav types of music.

Haven't checked any streaming services out yet but since most end up for pay and don't truly cater to my tastes I doubt I will ever try any.

Hello juxtiphi

Forget the radio side of Spotify, and check out their library. Type in your artist name and you will find their studio recordings but also in many instances LIVE recordings at various venues.

Hello oxbeats

I checked out hit107 dot com and 961 dot, not my taste i'm afraid.
gorillasuperdigi dot com I could not connect to, the other one I think flash something BullGuard blocked the site as unsafe. My kind of music is from the 70's and 80's which you probably don't like. Still, it's all good fun though.
