Scripting and Other Woes

Post by timdrussell »

Hi,

I'm having trouble figuring out how to make scripts work. My main problem is there seems to be a lack of documentation available on scripting. I have done everything I can think of at this point. My test script is simple. I want to display one Sprite (a custom JPG) for the duration of a particular song and have the Color Maps slowly change. I've been working on this task for hours, and I can't seem to get anything to happen.

Is it a problem with my system? I am using Windows 8.1 and WinAmp (with GF running as the visualization plug-in).

Is it a problem with my script? I have no idea, because there is so little information available, and what is available is very confusing to me (and I'm a programmer). My latest script looks something like this:

Code: Select all

StartSprite( "(File Name)", 740 )
StartConfig( "ColorMap", "105 Degrees", ss_QuickTransition )
StartConfig( "WaveShape", "(None)", 0 )
StartConfig( "FlowField", "(Empty)", 0 )
However, I don't even know if that's right. It's like it's not even running when the song begins, or there's a problem with it of some kind.

Is it a problem with something else? I have given the script the same name as the song. I placed it in the C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\SoundSpectrum\G-Force\Scripts folder.

Aside from just feeling frustrated at not being able to get this figured out for my upcoming DJ performance, I feel upset that I spent $30 on GF Platinum and then find it disappointing. It seems hard to save customizations. When it's running on its own in random mode it's beautiful. I think it has a lot of potential, and sadly there seem to be few products on the market like it. I REALLY want it to work for my needs, of course. I just don't know how to make that happen.

Need help.

Thanks,
Timothy

Hello timdrussell
....Aside from just feeling frustrated at not being able to get this figured out for my upcoming DJ performance.....
You will need to contact SoundSpectrum to obtain a Professional version (commercial license) before using G-Force in public. This version may help with what your trying to achieve, plus SoundSpectrum will give you help when needed.

A lot of us aren't too enthusiastic about the process for saving custom themes and I cannot understand scripting either.

My G-force is set to the standard theme and I use the toolbar to make changes on the fly when I don't like what I see on my tv screen from my monitor, but for the most part I just let G-force do what it does without any fiddling on my end.

I have tried all the other vis out there and IMHO G-force is the least repetitive and the most entertaining hands down.

From MY understanding, 30$ doesn't buy you the right for public exhibition anyway...
(or even the right to be disappointed... nobody wants to be hungry, eh?)

Hi guys,

Thanks for handling this. I'll look into finding his license code, to make sure that it is revoked.

Just so people know, the versions available from our website are for private use only. For public display, or commercial use, you must contact us at our support ticket site (https://www.soundspectrum.com/support/contact.html). We will give you a fair and affordable deal.
