G-Force 5.1b2 is now available

Post by BTT »

Hello All

For all Platinum users on the beta list

G-Force 5.1b2 is now available

Major internal change to improve compatibility on OS X systems (perceived as strobing/flashing when a large Sprite appears).

Added album cover art and extended track info support for Winamp!

Added drawer integration for Winamp.

Content updates to track animations -- more to come!

Regards BTT

This beta crashed my comp twice while trying to launch G-force plugin for winamp. As the new drawer opens the window is blank and everything froze both times.

The old plugin had its own vis window which was not related to other winamp windows or "drawers", remember it just had the white border.

Drawer integration means a new vis window that matches winamps classic skin so that when you open the plugin the window matches the winamp player.

When I hit the start vis option the vis window or "drawer" opens and it freezes my comp immediately.

Winamp skins have become more complicated in the last few years.

They have a plugin called CPro which allows users to use specific kinds of skins and winamps own developers have created a new default skin called Bento which has a shit load of drawers/windows for all kinds of shit I don't use so I stick with the good ole classic skin style from when winamp was young.Maybe that had something to do with it.

Hello All

Using new beta with Winamp G-Force does not work. When launching GF I see a small black square, no GF display, all desktop icons flicker, audio OK, trying to close Winamp computer crashes. This did not happen in b1.

If that is the cause of the problem then surely the solution is easy, revert back to how it was.

Have you tried re-sizing the black box?

Hi Frank

I should have been more explicit in my post. Its not just winamp. It crashed everything except the mouse. I couldn't access the task bar to get to task manager and escape key was useless.

On my second attempt I had task manager ready to go in case it crashed but it was no use, the mouse was unable to execute any commands.

Hello All

My situation matches that of juxtiphi. There is absolutely nothing you can do with the open black area, no GF display, no Taskbar, no Escape, no Shift / Enter. Computer freezes totally except mouse. Then crashes.

Thanks guys. I didn't have this error, but my version of WinAmp was very bare-bones and the only plug-in I had installed was G-Force. We're working on fixing it, but in the meantime you guys should switch over to the last stable version.

The only plug-in I have in Winamp is G-Force. The last stable version...so it's back to GF 4.3.2 for me then. (couldn't resist that). Will look forward to next beta. Thanks Andy.

Hi Frank

My version of winamp is as bare as it gets with only Aeon and G-force as plugins. I only install the basics with winamp except for the Cpro Skin plugin which I dont even use any more.
