Intermittent Slowdown
When running the latest version of G-Force Platinum via Winamp in fullscreen mode either on my 22 inch monitor or my 45 inch plasma display (via HDMI cable) it seems to slow down for a few seconds and then speed back up again.
Initially I thought this was the end result of a bloated system, so I re-imaged the computer since it was time anyway. So now I have a nice clean system, no pirated software, everything 100% fully legit, no bloat.
I start up Winamp, start G-Force and... same issue... WTF?!
System Specs:
OS - Windows 7 Pro x64
AMD Phenom 9500 2.2 Ghz Quad-Core Processor
Asus M3A78-EMH HDMI Motherboard (All onboard video and sound disabled)
8 GB - Raptor-X RAM
Video Card - SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X HD 4890 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E
Sound Card: Soundblaster X-Fi
HD - 6 TB total
Display 1: 22 inch BenQ monitor; 1920x1200
Display 2: 45 inch Panasonic Plasma; 1920x1080; 1080p resolution
Note: I am not running both screens at the same time.
I noticed that the majority of suggestions on other threads was to re-install G-Force/Winamp. This is a fresh system, so this does not need to be done.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi ColinFox
Welcome to Soundspectrum Forums.
I am sure that the more tech savy members will have some info and or help for you, It could take a couple days but someone here will chime in.
the forum is mostly run by volunteers so hang in there.

EDIT
even though you have a nice machine with a great video card that doesnt mean there wont be something hogging resources or priority over other programs while running in the background. Try shutting down any unnecessary windows services and or stopping what ever type of antivirus you have while useing G-Force and see if there is an improvement.

Hey, thanks for the replies!
@juxtiphi:
I'll take a look at that once I get back to my place tomorrow, but since it's a fresh re-install that shouldn't be an issue... after re-installing I went and disabled a bunch of services I didn't need and uninstalled a bunch of windows 7 "features" that come pre-installed (damn tablet-PC components!) As for AV software, I use Microsoft Security Essentials (damn good, and free!) BTW: from memory I believe I only have ~65 processes running in the background.
@BTT:
I'll have to check, but I didn't change the fps so whatever the default is. Also, to clarify, I only use 1 screen at a time so no "extended desktop" mode or "clone" mode.

Sorry for taking so long to reply; had family issues I had to take care of.
@juxtiphi
I tried turning off sprites both on my monitor and TV and there is no difference, same slowdown effect unfortunately.
Additionally, I was wrong about my monitor resolution it's:1680x1050... sorry about that.
@BTT
Frame Rate Information:
On Monitor: 32.754272 (it varies)
On Plasma TV: 32.542095 (it also varies)

I am also experiencing the same slowdown

Hello ColinFox and juxtiphi
I too use WinAmp as my media player. I have 4Gb Ram and an Nvidea graphics card 1Mb and, I am able to run G-Force at 60 / 65 frames per second without any problem. I am using Windows XP and, I do not have on-board video.
I think contacting SoundSpectrum regarding this issue would be the right way to go:-

If G-force is running fine for you then there is nothing wrong with G-force "per se" and the lag is most likely caused by our machines

Well, if that's true then I have no idea what is causing the lag, I don't believe for one minuet that it's Windows 7. Have you checked in Device Manager to see if your Graphics card is enabled and not the on-board Video?, that's the only thing that comes to mind.juxtiphi wrote:If G-force is running fine for you then there is nothing wrong with G-force "per se" and the lag is most likely caused by our machines

gotta save up for a new video card for sure.

Hello juxtiphi
But, what I don't understand is that ColinFox has a dedicated Video Card - SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X HD 4890 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E which is more than capable of running G-Force without any lag and, he could certainly up his frames per second to 60 / 65 without any problem. Maybe someone running Windows 7 could offer some advice here.

my new comp cost $800 bucks and the onboard video should be more than enough to run G-Force also, I dont think its GF, I think its background services or antivirus software doing its thing (although I am not running any anti virus) or frickin nero running more useless shtuff

Been Awhile
Hey guys, it's been a while so i'd thought I would give an update. Still have not found anything that could be causing this issue. I've even upped the FPS and it looks spectacular! BUT still the slowdown issue... Interestingely I can run Gforce off my laptop with default settings without issue... but on my main computer which is more powerfull I have this issue... soo confused.
