QuickTime movies repeating

Post by flamesong »

Hi, nice to be amongst G-Force people.

I have a couple of niggling problems - perhaps somebody might be able to offer some advice.

One little problem is that when running G-Force on my Powerbook movies that I put in the (Auto Backgrounds) or (Auto Foregrounds) folders keep repeating, sometimes thay don't even reach the end before they start over again. It is very frustrating as I have several movies which I would like to be played at random.

I have tried saving the movies in all kinds of formats but nothing seems to make any difference.

I haven't changed any of the Script files - they are all 'factory defaults' - as I don't feel that comfortable with coding yet. The only thing I do to customise my experience is to move images in and out of the various folders depending on what I want to achieve.

The other little problem is that on my G4 movies don't appear at all. Again regardless of the file format.

Both machines are running on OSX 10.3.4 with QuickTime 6.5.

I have G-Force Gold 2.6.6 - I am about to upgrade to 2.6.8 but there is nothing in the version history which mentions this so I am not expecting it to suddenly change.

I'd be very grateful if anybody can help me out with this or to hear from anybody else who is having either of these problems.

hi there... Please find the smallest movies you have such that one repeats and the other doesn't show up at all and upload them to my ftp server:
55ware.com (login/pass: upload@55ware.com/upload)

I'll try to repro your problems over here and go from there.

thanks,
andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for taking time to look into my problem but I think the cause of it has revealed itself. So that I could see how a movie would look I would place a single file in the (Auto Backgrounds) or (Auto Foregrounds) folder so that when I pressed shift-Y it was the only movie which could be played. But in practice there are always a number of movies in either folder so it probably isn't worth investigating further.

As much as anything else it was that the movie would only reach about two thirds of the way through before it started again. Anyway, to all intents and purposes the problem has gone. Thanks.

The problem I was having with movies not appearing at all on my G4. I had checked the folder directory path and carried out various other fiddles without any luck. The problem disappeared when I installed 2.6.8.

One other small thing I have noticed - jpegs which are put in the (Auto Foregrounds) folder often appear small but when they are put in the (Auto Backgrounds) folder are full size.

But having brought up these minor problems I'd like to thank you for a truly brilliant piece of kit. I find it a bit difficult to control not being very confident with coding so I normally just put the bits in the folders and let it do its own thing - which it does fantastically.

Cheers.
