What, if any, features should be added to G-Force?

Feature request

Post by gschentag »

Hi Andy,

Great software!

I use G-Force standalone on a second monitor.
When I go full screen on the second monitor it looks great until I click somthing on the first monitor. Once I click on the first monitors desktop the second monitor's screen reverts to it's defualt size.

It would be great if the second monitor could stay full size, irrespective of what I did on the first monitor.

Best regards,

Glenn Schentag

Feature Request: Midi

Post by Wombat66 »

The addition of midi control would be great. Triggering images and video via midi note values would be quite valuable for live performance use. I would imagine other G-Force elements might also be modified using midi controller values.

Meanwhile I'm still loving G-Force.

Thanks!

...but I feel compelled to reiterate a suggestion I made twice before.

Pending the feasibility of this, I would *love* to see a Union config type that treats colormaps the same way as FlowFields (i.e. blending two CMpas in a patterened style).

Musicmatch Jukebox

Post by Scott »

I like to listen to musicmatch radio.
I have G-force 2.6.1
I would like to see the album art and song titles like I see when I'm using G-Force with windows media center.
Is this possible with MMJB radio ?
G-force is the greatest !!!!

G-force is the greatest, however...

...the only thing I think that needs any sorta change is the ability that when a song ends in full screen mode, you can use the escape key to go back to the desktop. (Like in 2.2, I belive). As it stands, it won't let ME exit out of the fullscreen mode unless I do <Alt> - <Tab>. Other than that...it truely is a marvel to behold.

Well, that's an important bug report--I'll try to look into that one... What OS and player do you use?

Hello Andy and SoundSpectrum Community,
I really enjoy this program. My favorite eyecandy! I’m no programmer, but I might try my hand at scripting a song or two with this program. I’m a teacher/songwriter who would like to arrange images and effects to my songs. Should I just wait for the GUI? I would like to “perform” a song, manipulating the G-Force controls and record the result in Quicktime? Is that possible now or a coming attraction? Also, I’ve inserted images into the sprite folder with only limited success and no real control. From reading your sites, it seems these controls might be coming.
Congratulations (and thanks) on your service to our country, and your success with these programs.

If I May...

Post by JayPro »

Andy has a new program out called SoundSpectrum Darkroom, which utilizes QT for whatever relevant file you wish to use. For instance, you have a musical score in QT compatible file? Just download Darkroom and follow the steps to integrate your piece with G-Force or WhiteCap (which, BTW, is *also* a choice piece of work if I do say so myself).

PS: Which kinds of sprites are you trying to load and what do you wish them to do? I recall in the pre-version2.6 builds, Andy had it arranged in such a way that a sprite could move around the screen in various trajectories, provided that a "helper" text file of sorts was placed in the Particles folder.

But then again, that was pre-v2.6 and much has changed. Now two types of effects (WaveShapes and Particles) have been coalesced into one and the Sprite configuration has also changed.

I'll certainly leave it to Andy to help clarify things for both of us here (and I have a gut feeling ther'll be a lot to clarify ;) ).

Border around Text

Post by Drowbe »

I'd love to see a thin, black (or configurable color) border around the track text that pops up. This would make it easier to read when the viz is bright.

How about live video input?

Post by hartsteins »

Andy -

Awesome program. Easily the finest visualizer I've ever seen.

Any chance for Live video input as a new feature?

Right now I use a web-casting program (Imagecaster for mac) to repeatedly save an image into the sprites folder once every second. Then I wrote a script to repeatedly re-load that image. It's a sloppy work-around but it does work.

Is there a way to loop a particle call in a script?

Thanks for all your work.

My opinion is that it might be easier to make the entire text color a 50%-between-black-and-white grey for easier viewing regardless of colormapping...with a black or white (whichever is easier to do) border for grey-based colormaps

A Gui would be grea for those of us who cannot script. Buttons and sliders man, make it accessable.

G-Force for the non-codewarior

Post by flamesong »

It's probably very feeble of me but I'd like (and would gladly pay a reasonable amount for) a control panel/interface which allows me to cue up sprites and trigger events without getting my hands dirty.

I'm often asked if I can sync certain QT movies with certain tracks or if I can trigger a certain sprite at will. My answer is always that I am sure it is possible but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

That said, I love what it does already - so much that I paid to go Gold and especially enjoy the extra ability to save effects as movies in Sound Spectrum Darkroom.
