Hi everyone,
I've been a friggin regular at viewing these posts. I, like most G-force addicts, have my g-force and whitecap (on iTunes) displayed constantly (i hooked my computer up to the tv, what a cool effect). I have trouble playing it at parties because by the end of the night, everyone's conversations are cut off mid-way and they're just staring at the screen.
I have been cutting and pasting ALL configs and putting them in text files, which has taken up about 3 hours of my life. I just came back to the forum to see that Rovastar (a flowfield genious) has put all of his configs in a zip file. This literally could have prevented poor saps like me from bruised pinky-pointer fingers from hitting CTRL-C and CTRL-V every 3 seconds. So here's my idea:
if you have your own scripts, name all your text files with a prefix of your name (like Rovastar's "Rovastar - Altars of Madness"), zip them up into a zip file, then email them to me so i can put them (and your email address) on this page i put up on my site. I'll give 100% CREDIT TO ALL AUTHORS, don't worry. I'm doing this out of love for G-force and WhiteCap. Rovastar, i hope you dont mind but i'm putting up your two zip files as an example. Please check it out. It will be like a library of zip files containing colormaps, flowfields, and all other configs! I hope you all realize that this could be an incredibly cool way of expanding the g-force and whitecap community!

Re: ALL COLORMAPS, FLOWFIELDS, FLOWFIELD UNIONS, AND WAVESHA
I'm already developing the "extras" posting that will accomplish all this. Two parties doing this will be counterproductive. In less than a week, every major contributor will have their own archive available for public download, on soundspectrum.com.imgreekyo wrote:Hi everyone,

Yasou!
Yep. Andy's gonna be doing something that many here, both of us included, have looked forward to for a very, very, very long time. We appreciate your enthusiasm, though.
Have you ever considered looking at how to make configs on your own? All you need is some higher math skills (i.e trig) and some programming (especially C++ and the like) under your belt and you can do it.
Even I, who stink at math and have almost no programming experience to speak of, have been able to do quite a few things with it. If you feel uncomfortable about it, check out the Configs folders and take a look at how many the makers of these effects document their work. these examples will show you how this or that formula creates so-and-so. A lot of the comments are geared towards those who, like me, are rather shaky in their understanding of the code syntax.
EDIT: Matter of fact, if you take a look at the Documentation that comes with the package (Config Programming section), Andy already has an example of each kind of effect specially laid out.
The again, if you can figure it out better than I, you're a step ahead at least.
Think about it.

"God is syntax."
hey! it's great to talk to you, andy, and rovastar simply because you are in my highest regards when it comes to G-force.. you know i thought about trying to create some of my own and i just might. Wanna hear a quick story? I looked at a bunch of flowfields and i realized i could probably tackle the feat of making a decent flowfield, but i always wanted to create a waveshape of my last name to rotate about the screen. I downloaded TR Rammstein, which is just a T with an R in it rotating around the screen, so i thought "hey, if i have an example on making a T and an R, i'm sure i could figure it out!" I tried for like a few hours, and i was so lost. The documentation helped, but it wasn't enough. Sadly, that ended my waveshape-making career!
But you know what, since then i've gotten real good at java and at idl (a unix language) and i think i'm gonna take ur advice... i'll try whipping up a flowfield (to start off with) and put it up on the new "Extras" section when that's up. I hope to be talking with you guys sometime soon, hopefully to discuss my configs!
