G-force Song start confusion

Post by kcollison »

I notice that some mp3 files of mine seem to confuse G-force -- during their play, G-force always thinks a new song is starting, and therefore launches its new song routine during the duration of its play (i.e. song track sprite appears, new flowfield/waveshape/color map is written).

A minor complaint, but annoying when it happens. Any clue as to the cause? Looking at the file's mp3 data reveals nothing unusual, though they are encoded using VBR. I've uploaded one of these here:

Any help would be appreciated.

Song start confusion

Orbstah,

Yes, it is always the same songs. As far as "at the same times", its perpetual -- G-force thinks its always starting a new song throughout the entire song.

I should mention I'm using winamp 2.x.

Any insights appreciated. Thanks!

to be honest it does the same on mine, must be badly coded vbr files in the first instance, i thinbk g-force is just picking up changes in the rate as some form of data and displaying the title, maybe this has something to do with g-forces not being able to handle vbr files properly. and everytime is see a change in rate it believes it to be a new song.

Thanks for confirming that its not just my system.

I don't think my files are poorly encoded -- I think you're right, that G-force is simply unable to handle VBR properly.

Perhaps Andy could look into this and provide a bug fix?
