Soundspectrum main website offline?

Post by ozbeats »

Hi SS Forum moderators and SS staff,

Just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed that the main SoundSpectrum website appears to be offline at present?

I'm in Australia, and it won't load on my IE11, nor the Chrome browser.
At the least, now that I've made it known it will likely be noticed sooner and restored a little faster - hopefully....

Thanks, :D

Alf

Hello ozbeats

I believe the reason the web site not being available is due to maintenance purposes. You will most likely find a new updated forum in use over the next few days.

Hi Ozbeats,

Thanks for asking. While we were upgrading the boards, there were some issues with our servers and the back-ups, and we’re scrambling as fast as we can to fix it. In the meantime, I’m still available via email, the Facebook page, or LivePerson. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Frank,

For most of the last two days I have seen a SS splash explaining the hosting outage.

However today I loaded your site SoundSpectrum in Chrome Browser and discovered that it is redirecting from the original domain (soundspectrum) and the logo as well, both are all linked to the site suredibs DOT com???

Please explain, has soundspectrum been hacked somehow?

Cheers, Alf

No probs, I just sent an instant message to Andy as well via Skype, he's online so hopefully he'll spot it and can act on this fast.

Obviously picking a webhost that offers higher level security, anti-hacking technology and multiple backup systems is paramount, auto backup too....

When I hosted websites even without https security they were targeted by hackers and often some tedious work had to be done to update
my sites from their last working backup restored points (I used GVO hosting), I also had to fix hacked plugins / links / injected scripts, etc.

Cheers, Alf

Hi guys,

We haven't been hacked, I'm not sure why that happened. But, you may notice that our site is back up, and almost all functionality has been restored! I'm currently testing the site, but if you guys could run through it, and let me know about anything missing or broken, that would be a huge help.

Hi Frank,

One thing I've noticed, on the home page - the four flash objects for each visualizer do seem to load on Chrome browser and Firefox,
but not on Internet Explorer 11, the place-holders are not visible and the place where the pictures should be is blank / transparent.
It could be to do with compatibility with IE11, placement, z-index ranking in the html code, etc.

One thing to consider is maybe utilizing html5, with html5 natively rotating the images much like flash,
but in a more discrete and widely accepted format with a responsive layout overall for the whole site.

A responsive HTML5 script coded site would provide the huge advantage of being 100% mobile / tablet device compatible, for any screen size.

Thanks, hope this helps ;)

Alf :)

Hello All

There are a lot of pages on the site that DO NOT scroll making it impossible to read all the information.

XP info and Vista, 7, and 8 info are the wrong way round.

The Screenshots most downloaded section has dissapeared.

When are we going to have the forum updated?

Thanks, BTT! I'll take all those notes to Anton, and hopefully once all this mess is cleaned up, he'll be able to update the forums.
