General Question about Stero Mix

Hello, I am using a new PC with G-force Platinum. I was stoked to find out that my PC has digital optical cable support, but I can't seem to get the stereo mix to work with it (for G-force standalone).

I can connect using stereo jack just fine, and when enabling stereo mix it works fine, too. But when I set my default playback device to my digital audio output, the stereo mix has no sound going through it.

Does anybody know a way around this?
