How do I get g-force updates? Arent they supposed to be downloaded automatically? I have just renewed my subscription and this version I'm running now is completely different.I had platinum before and platinum now and it is different because I wasn't getting any updates. Why is it so?

Hello redrooster.

G-Force never updated automatically , Unless a new feature (autoupdate) has been added since my hiatus there is no auto update feature. G-Force can be set to check for updates but in order to update you must download the new version and install.

when installing a newer version of G-force it can be a good idea to completely uninstall the previous version. This includes deleting the soundspectrum folder found in your documents application data folder.

sometimes installing a new over the old without uninstalling can hinder the new instillation.

Hi BTT, G-force has stopped working again, I had a problem with skype and ran microsoft fix it centre, its a program they have to fix bugs on your system but it stopped skype from working and the problem was sisgrumb.dll I suppose thats a driver in the sis chipset software so I updated the driver and it worked. when I tried G-force & it wasn't working so I did the same trick again updating the driver but it didn't work this time! So Im back to scratching my head thinking how am I going to fix it this time. LoL

Hello redrooster

Maybe I shouldn't have asked.

There is in my opinion definitely something going on under the bonnet of your machine. It could be a corrupt file (or files), drivers or a program that's causing these problems. In your position I would without any doubt format and, re-install windows. Once done I would install G-Force and check that it's running OK, then load just one program at a time checking G-Force is still good. If you install a program (or programs) that stop G-Force running then you would at least know what's causing the problem.

Hi BTT, I think you're right because just to be curious I rolled back to the previous driver that didn't work before and started this whole problem off. Well now it does work, G-force is running again? It must be the vista O/S its never been any good and there isn't any support from microsoft to fix it unless I pay them to fix their own mistakes. I think I will buy a new computer with windows 7 but I will try Ubuntu on this one first to see how it goes (dual boot) If its any good I will stay with that.

Hello redrooster

redrooster, I DO work for SoundSpectrum and oversee most support and sales matters. I was reading over your past thread because BTT alerted me to it. If you did send us a support request via our Contact page, I can guarantee it was answered. (We do not have that many open tickets or problems from our customers at the moment, and we pride ourselves on being timely and responsive to anyone who writes to us directly.) Unfortunately, I cannot search for your ticket because I do not know your real name or email address. Though, because our responses are sent via an automated email system, it's possible that spam filters on your side intercepted our response. Regardless, if you wish to write to us again via our Contact page, I will look out for your ticket and respond as soon as possible. Or, if you know the ticket number, I can look it up.

On a side note, it's not clear whether the problems you are encountering are because of your system or OS or if it IS something to do with our current version of G-Force. Unfortunately, if you switch to Ubuntu you will not be able to use GF as we do not currently support any Linux builds. The "G-Force Blue" you referenced was actually a promotion we did with Microsoft in early versions of Vista, and it was a basic version that we created and Microsoft bundled in with the OS. If you absolutely needed to reinstall it you would have to get it off the Vista disc that came with your computer. However, there really should be no issues with having both a paid copy of GF and GF Blue installed.

Hello sitsparky

Didn't know you were part of the team at SoundSpectrum. All of my dealings with the company have been with Andy and Paul. Good to see someone from the company active on the forum.

Hehe. Hey, BTT. This IS Paul. I guess I could've chosen a more revealing username for the forums, but sitsparky has been a handle of mine for many years so I figured why change now.

Cheers!
