I can't figure it out, but Motherboard Monitor 5 (5.3.7.0) shows essentially zero CPU usage when Winamp 2.81 is playing and G-Force 2.7.2 Gold is active. I'm running a 3ghz P4 machine (ASUS P4C800 mobo, 1gb PC3200 400mhz DDRAM).
This is quite different from previous versions, and quite amazing.
G-Force 2.7.2 Gold takes zero CPU on 3ghz WinXP Home!

Alright, I'm the problem.
Don't know what was causing it, but I've now completed a re-re-install of my WinXP (caused by new hardware upgrades and other system anomalies). This time I was very careful to install new copies of all programs into non-existent target directories, recustomizing them all from scratch. This approach always clears out "detritus" and that's what was long called for here.
Not surprisingly all programs now work as they should. And that includes Motherboard Monitor 5, which is once again reporting CPU usage properly.
And, that means Winamp 2.81 and G-Force 2.7.2 Gold are now "using" CPU as would be expected, even on my 3ghz P4. Back to normal.
CPU from Winamp and G-Force usage is in the expected 25-50% range, depending on music being played and the particular forms being drawn.
False alarm. User error.
