When run in iTunes, the SoftSkies menus can be controlled with the Apple Remote. It looks like this feature is interfering with the remote when SoftSkies is run as a screensaver.

This will be fixed for the 1.2 release.

Disregarding for a moment what the preference values say, does SoftSkies appear to actually be changing resolutions and going fullscreen at 800x600? Or does it seem to be going fullscreen at the current "native" resolution (1280x1024)? Because of a bug in iTunes 7.0, SoftSkies should be going fullsc...

If you're using a Mac, there's a lot of software which will let you run the screensaver version of SoftSkies on the desktop. For example:

I'm not aware of similar software for Windows, but it could be worth looking around for it!

Another followup here -- I think I've identified the problem with SoftSkies. It looks like you're running with a Dutch system correct? I think SoftSkies is having trouble with the string encoding for the Dutch language.

We'll start working on a fix and will get it to you as soon as possible!

You should see the SoftSkies beta when you enter your license code on this page: http://www.soundspectrum.com/support/download_products.html If you don't, please send me a private message with your email addres...

Sorry to hear you're having problems with SoftSkies. Can you tell me if the trial version was working okay for you? Also, can you tell me about the error warnings you're seeing in the Skies Designer? There shouldn't be any warnings coming from our software, so I'm curious to know what it is. Finally...

SoftSkies 1.1 (coming soon) has an option in the settings menu to turn these titles off.

If you want to get a sneak peek at 1.1 (and help us by beta testing it!), sign up for the SoftSkies beta list:

Thanks for the notes on Media Center. We'll make sure that the SoftSkies menu does not get in the way for the next version. As for SoftSkies not responding to music, this is something that we haven't come across. The SoftSkies music reactivity is somewhat subtle, and furthermore will change along wi...

On Windows, the file should be located in: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\SoundSpectrum\SoftSkies Change the path to reflect your root drive and username. Also, the original poster was using iTunes, but there's a different file for each media player, so be sure to get the file...

DrBazooka: it would be helpful if you could submit a screenshot and detailed description of the problem to SoundSpectrum support.

Some black backgrounds are normal (like with the storm settings), but if it's turning black and not coming back again, it sounds like a problem.

tbrown: I would recommend trying the same thing I recommended to brightblack. If you can find the Preferences file and turn off shaders, it's likely to help. We can make this easier to do in the next version by enabling an option for it in the settings menu, but for the time being, please try editin...

Thanks for the response, and I'm glad to hear the non-shader version is working. The fact that turning shaders off fixed the problem means that the graphics card claims to support all of the requirements for shaders. In all likelihood this means that there's some minor quirk to the card that's preve...

Which of the two Macs have you had the problem on? I think they both have the same graphics card, but I'm curious nonetheless. I believe we've tested it on a MacMini (the earlier model?), but not on the MacBook. One thing you can try is turning off "shaders" in the Preferences file. That will enable...
