G-Force: Improving on perfection

Post by carl1011 »

Make the following change to your G-Force 'media player' preference file. You won't be disappointed!

Replace
Audio.PCM.Smooth = 0.008

With
Audio.PCM.Smooth = "0.09 + ( i * ( 4 + rnd( 25 )))"

I have 'audio response' set to "1"
Audio.Response.Scale = 1

Does this work with the standalone and what is the effect?

IIRC if you have both the standalone and the appropriate media player build (as I do), there is a master Prefs file for each one, and the parameters shown above can be adjusted accordingly.

Hi carl,
Are 'audio response' set to "1" and Audio.Response.Scale = 1 the same thing?

I was able to find "Audio.Response.Scale" but I cannot find 'audio response' to change the value.

Hello carl1011

Is there any chance you could respond to the following?

What is the effect of this change?

The G-Force documentation provides the answer. "Audio.PCM.Smooth - As this value increases, the more mag(0..1) is smoothed (ie, peaks and valleys will be less jagged). Approximately doubling/halving this number will double/half the amount of smoothing."

The initial G-Force value is hard coded to "0.008" and represents a constant amount of wave smoothing. By varying this value the wave pattern will move from a smooth varying line to a jagged (saw toothed) line and vice versa. By adding the "i" variable the line smoothing is controlled by the value of "i" which is predicated on the audio being processed at that time. So the line's "smoothness" is related to the actual music being processed by G-Force at that moment.

It works with the Standalone too.
