SS Plugins + 64-bit iTunes 12.1.0.71 :forced on 64-bit users

Post by ozbeats »

G'day everyone,

Just wanted to drop a quick note for 64-bit pc users that if you update the 32-bit version (uses a 64 bit installer) of iTunes to 12.1.0.71 it will become a 100% 64-bit program.

SS Plugins for Aeon, G-force and Whitecap will not be compatible with the 64 bit iTunes 12.1.0.71 straight off the bat...
(I tested it simply by copying the plugins folder to the 64 bit iTunes folder and was alerted on next start-up that 32-bit version of the plugins weren't compatible) some recoding may be required by Andy, Frank and the SS crew too.

A reconfigured 64-bit version of the plugins (similar to that format used to install both the 32 and 64-bit versions of WMP on 64-bit Windows OS's) that works with iTunes versions 12.1.0.71+ will be awesome.

Thanks, ;)

Alf

Hello ozbeats

Yup, I am an official victim to this scenario, so no Aeon or G-Force in my iTunes until enough people complain about this for development to fix this issue. Sux!!

Receiving this message when I open iTunes:

"vis_G-Force.dll could not load in 64-bit mode. Try contacting the plug-in vendor(s) to see if a 64-bit version is available."

Hello ozbeats and docizzen

Have today Saturday sent an email to SoundSpectrum asking them to respond to this issue. Probably be Monday at the earliest.

I can't imaging how many won't be so patient, as I am sure there are a good many who have just installed the iTunes update on their PC and will surely be experiencing the same frustrating issue.

Well, I cannot disagree with your comments, unfortunately I do not have the information to resolve this issue. SoundSpectrum may not even be aware of the problem (they are now). When making my first post SoundSpectrum had closed for the weekend. Had I seen the post by ozbeats earlier Friday I would have been able to get a response from Frank - Boss of the support dept the same day.

Hi guys!

We're aware of the issue! I don't think it will require much on our end to fix it, but thank you for your patience!

In the meantime, you might want to roll back iTunes, or use the Standalone visualizer!

Thanks to BTT, Frank, Andy and the SoundSpectrum team,

The beta 64-bit G-Force plugin for iTunes 12.1 works flawlessly (so far)...

So much better for me with a Native Media Player and Native SS Plugins, all 64-bit like my OS.

No more 32-bit limitations (if there are any), 64-bit programs can typically utilize higher amounts of RAM and GPU RAM if needed and available.

Thankyou once again....

G'day Frank,

Quick note, just downloaded G-Force and Whitecap updates.
Is the Aeon update still on it's way?
Or did SS apply iTunes support in the current version of Aeon 3.7.2?
I'm seeing Aeon version 3.7.2 downloads page....

Cheers, from Alf :)
