Recording Aeon as background for transparent video playback
Hello:
There are some programs that have the ability to transparently superimpose and play their the video screen without a formal video player "displaying" on or within the background.
I always wanted to find out how I could record, without stutter, the Aeon visualization (or any of soundspectrum's visualization programs) behind programs that can play upon a HDMI video screen, so that I can record the output directly upon a hard drive so that I could replay the file as an MP4, AVI, FLV or other video file, later or record to DVD/Blueray disc, for playback later.
I can get to the point where the Aeon (or other) visualization can play via the HDMI output to my HDMI TV but I would like to record the output that displays upon the screen...without or minimal video shudder, if at all possible.
I heard of a device that can record from a video source (HDMI / Composite / DVI / VGA / RCA / Composite) directly to a video file onto a hard drive...
Is this possible? If so, anybody know the best company that makes such a device... of course it goes without saying... that is affordable?
This would also make a great way that I could record some of my favorite records as a video.
Cheers & Thanks!

Hi Spirit Wolfe,
Though we sell commercial licenses for using our software in live public or commercial environments, we do not allow the sale or distribution of rendered video or images of our software in action in any medium, including on DVD, posted on the web, or in print / static visual pieces, unless there is a significant sales and distribution chain in place and we can monitor and charge for exposure rather than audit individual purchases. As such, we prefer to handle all creation, sale, and distribution of our creative and intellectual property as it refers to video and static images as well as usage and exposure on the web.
Please let me know if there's anything more that I can do to help you.

Hi juxtiphi,
Open up a support ticket on our site (https://www.soundspectrum.com/support/contact.html), and I'll respond through there. I can't wait to see it!

I believe what you may be looking for can also be achieved by installing any Nvidia graphics Processing Unit (GPU) of model 650 and above, they have an inbuilt H264 chip encoder on-board the graphics card with HDMI output.I can get to the point where the Aeon (or other) visualization can play via the HDMI output to my HDMI TV but I would like to record the output that displays upon the screen...without or minimal video shudder, if at all possible.
This technology is known as Shadowplay, and also allows gamer streaming to twitch tv, recording on hard drives manually or via a shadow capture of the last 10 or 20 mins, etc.
Shadowplay technology is installed when a Nvidia GPU user installs GeForce Experience from the 'Geforce' website or with any Nvidia GPU driver.
I was just lucky enough that they retreated on min CPU requirements to allow my Intel Core 2 Quad to run Shadowplay, min was an Intel i3 initially.
The capture footage can be any Direct X application that allows it, including SS visualizers, and can capture system audio and mic audio or both...
Quality is set to 60 frames per second (fps) at up to 50 MB's per second. without max manual recording time length restrictions at all on Win 8 and above.
Audio records at approx. 98 to 100 kbps - Hard to upload anything and see the real quality on Youtube considering they crunch footage down to 30 fps max....
In my case I have a Nvidia GTX 660ti GPU with 2GB of RAM and an Intel Quad Core Q6600 CPU with Windows 8.1 Pro with WMC and 8GB of System RAM

How much longer will it be before you respond with
"This is how to send me your video?"
I realize its only been 5 days since I opened the support ticket but I really dont think it should take this long to make it happen.

I have lived with Aeon since version 1.0. It is now my friend, Andrew has it working really great. I have two great presets. I would love to share some of the the great visuals. How do I share the great visuals to upload to youtube?
FrankN wrote:Hi guys,
We have allowed some of our current Platinum license holders to post up to three (3) videos showcasing our software to YouTube or Vimeo provided the following conditions are met. One, text saying that the visuals are courtesy of SoundSpectrum along with the URL to our website (http://www.soundspectrum.com) must appear within the video itself and in the video details and description. Two, any videos posted must be sent to us for our review. If we find any posted video to be objectionable or misrepresentative in any way, we reserve the right to rescind permission for posting videos.
In order to receive this permission you must first purchase an active Platinum license for our software. Also note that this written permission is only for posting to YouTube or Vimeo, and ONLY a maximum of three videos at one time. You may not sell any of these videos nor post them in any other forums, including your personal website. You also may not use our software in live performances unless you discuss the purchase of a commercial license with us.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but we have to protect our intellectual property rights, as well as the novelty of our visualizer.
