Frame counter?
Hi all,
Firstly a big thumbs up to the team behind this trully awesome product. Music is not a now a visual experince, just crazy! Anyway, just wondering if there is a way to display fps on the screen while G-force is running. Fps is always one of those things that drives me absolutely insane unless things are running super smooth at all times.
Additionally, any tips on increasing fps? I'm using G-force platinum 3.0.1 and I've already got pixel doubling on but I feel my system should be able to handle just about anything. I have a P4 3.0ghz cpu, 1024mb RAM and a Radeon X800XT PE 256mb ram video card yet I still get stutters at times, regardless of whether I fiddle with the G-force toolbar. This kinda grinds me a bit
Thanks in advance everyone.

Thanks for your response.
And, just as I suspected, I'm getting very average frame rates regardless of what resolution or colour depth I choose. The best I'm getting is around 21fps. I never had this problem with G-force gold. Understandly the platinum version has a lot more happening but is this normal? What could be the problem?

To be honest you have good spec of machine and something that GF will not take full advantage of.
Very little is done on the graphics card really so mostly CPU.
Actually very near my spec that I use for live gigs. Shuttle PC AMD 3500XP, 1GB Ram, nvidia 6600GT and only it does go some and I can get a lot from it. tbh I there is no visualization that can take advantage of that spec at all - I had to update another vis R4 loads to get the most from my machine. http://www.rabidhamster.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=539
Anyway you should have no problems with shuttering or res or anything there is another problem somewhere. What media player are you using...the problem may be there.

There is that much more going off in Platinum really at all at least CPU/GPU wise.
WMP should be ok but try standalone and see if that is any better.
I do my testing in Winamp and I know that better than anything else. Maybe you could try that.
Try turning off auto virus checking software that auto checks - certain software might see the GF configs as scripts or something when they load.

Yeah this is really annoying me now. When I go back and re-install G-force gold the frames are still shoddy but as soon as I activate pixel doubling my frames jump up to 30-35.
What on earth could it be? I'd rather stick to Windows media player 10 as I prefer it's interface over other players.

Ok well I've just given it a try in winamp and lo and behold, the frames are scorching at around 45 to 60fps on hi resolution - no pixel doubling. So obviously something is dodgy with my media player. *Groan* Ah well I can't be bothered with it, looks like I'll just have to get used to winamp again.
Thanks for your help Rovastar.

In fact no, it's really annoying to be honest. I'd MUCH rather get G-force running properly on media player 10. I have a keyboard with quick jump 'next', 'pause/play', 'stop' etc buttons and these only intergrate with windows media player. Not to mention I'm having trouble getting aux line out for winamp as well.
So, I really need to get this g-force happening with media player. Anymore suggestions on getting frames up to acceptable speeds?
