WOW!!!
Aeon is now AMAZING!.
Very smooth and responsive. Quite lovely! I'm running Aeon via JRiver Media Center on Win7 Pro.
My old card was a Radeon HD3870x2 which was clearly showing some age. The new card is an Nvidia based GTX 660 OC. I know there are faster cards than this but for me this one was in the sweet spot for price/performance. I'm running this with a 1080P display with the Aeon graphics set to "high". CPU is Intel Core2 Quad Q9450 2.66 GHz
In any case, I do have one question. I see that in the settings for Aeon, I have a Graphics Interface choice of "Direct3D" and "OpenGL". The default was Direct3D but I changed it to OpenGL which appears to me to be maybe slightly better. Not sure though as running with Direct3D looked pretty good too.
So, Should I choose one over the other? Given my system, is OpenGL the better choice for Aeon?
Direct3D / OpenGL ----- I just replaced my video card and...

Hi Wombat66,
I also have a Nvidia GPU card as well, an ASUS branded GTX660Ti with 2GB of DDR5 Memory... and yes it works awesomely, mine cost around $400 when I bought it upon model release late last year.
We both have OpenGL and DirectX to choose from, personally Windows Media Player would normally default to Direct 3D (DirectX11) and I have too tried Open GL but found my preferences were more suited to Direct3D..
I use the AEON overload preset at 60 frames per second, sometimes bumping the response rate to 1.17 or 1.33 also helps each scene's responsiveness to music (the beat, bass and treble)
However, it would depend on your media source, I have Digital Radio DAB+ on my PC's Audio AUX Line Input for use with 64 bit Standalone's included with SS Platinum licenses and both AEON and G-force work fantastically.
Hope this helps a bit,
BTW: ASUS have a program called GPU tweak, and the latest version is currently 2.3.7.3 - great for monitoring + overclocking with a preset for Gaming tailored to your GPU

I also use AEON in J.River. I got a 2 screen setup so I left it at Direct3D. They both perform about the same but D3D plays more nice when its sharing the videocard with other apps. At least this has been my experience.
As to its performance in either my rig stomps the hell out of it so I can't really tell if there is any difference.
